The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G and Motorola edge 70 pro both list 144Hz AMOLED displays and 6500mAh batteries, but their specifications point to different priorities. Motorola lists a more advanced named chipset, 90W wired charging, wireless charging and a periscope telephoto camera; TECNO lists a 45W charging system and an Alive Matrix rear display. There is no supported apples-to-apples price difference: Motorola’s published prices are for Brazil, and a matching TECNO price for the same market and storage was not established.
This is a manufacturer-specification comparison, not a hands-on review or matched lab test. The models’ names are styled differently by their makers: TECNO calls its phone the POVA 8 Pro 5G, while Motorola calls its phone the edge 70 pro.

On paper, the Motorola has several higher-end or more versatile listed features: the Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, a higher-resolution display, a higher peak-brightness claim on the UK page, wireless charging, and a periscope telephoto camera. TECNO’s listed Dimensity 7400 Ultimate and 45W charging are paired with the same nominal battery capacity and refresh rate, plus the distinctive Alive Matrix rear display.

These specifications do not establish how much faster one phone feels, how long either lasts in real use, or which screen is easier to see outdoors. No matched independent performance or battery-life test for these exact models is established here. TECNO reports an AnTuTu score of 1,010,744 on its product page, but that is the company’s own figure and cannot be directly compared with a Motorola result under matched conditions. TECNO also advertises PUBG MOBILE at 144FPS, with a note that availability depends on a future major game update expected by October 2026 and the game’s update timing; it should not be treated as a guaranteed current experience. TECNO’s product page.
Performance
The chipset names suggest Motorola’s higher-tier positioning, but they are not a substitute for equivalent tests of real applications, sustained performance and heat. If gaming or demanding workloads are decisive, look for independent tests of both exact models using the same games, settings and software versions.

Display
Both makers specify 144Hz AMOLED panels of similar size. Motorola lists more pixels and a higher peak-brightness figure on its UK page. Because peak figures do not show typical brightness in everyday use, they cannot alone prove which screen is more readable outside.

Which phone has the better camera?
Motorola lists a more versatile camera arrangement on paper. Its announcement describes four 50MP cameras, including a periscope telephoto lens, with 3.5× optical zoom and up to 50× Super Zoom Pro. TECNO specifies a 50MP optically stabilized main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The stated features give Motorola a clearer long-zoom advantage in the specifications, while image quality, stabilization and low-light results require sample photos or independent testing.

The front-camera listings are 50MP for Motorola and 13MP for TECNO. A higher megapixel count does not by itself establish better selfies; sensor, lens, processing and lighting also matter. Motorola’s announcement and TECNO’s product page provide the manufacturers’ camera details.
What is the price difference?
A verified price gap cannot be calculated from the available figures. Motorola’s Brazil announcement lists suggested prices of R$4,499 for 256GB and R$5,999 for 512GB. Those are Brazil-market prices for the stated configurations; a corresponding TECNO price for that market, storage tier and date was not established. Do not compare those figures with prices from another country, seller or configuration as if they were a like-for-like difference. Motorola Brazil’s announcement.

For a useful local comparison, check the same country, storage capacity, physical RAM, seller type and purchase date, then account for warranty and what comes in the box. A comparison-site result displayed multiple prices in a multi-device format, but it does not establish a reliable current price difference.

Both manufacturers specify a 6500mAh battery. TECNO lists 45W wired charging. Motorola lists 90W TurboPower wired and 15W wireless charging in its announcement, so Motorola has the higher listed charging wattage and adds wireless charging. The wattage specifications do not establish actual charging times under the same conditions.

Motorola’s Brazil announcement clarifies that 6500mAh is typical capacity and 6300mAh is the certified minimum. It also says a Motorola TurboPower 90 or higher charger is sold separately, so buyers should verify whether a suitable charger is included with the local phone. What RAM and storage versions should you check?
Compare the physical RAM and storage printed for the exact regional SKU. TECNO lists 256GB storage with 8GB or 12GB physical RAM and a 512GB option with 12GB physical RAM; its extended-RAM feature is not equivalent to additional physical memory. Motorola’s UK page lists 256GB with 8GB or 12GB RAM, while its Brazil announcement includes 256GB and 512GB versions. Availability can therefore vary by market.
Motorola’s software-support statements also differ by source and region. Its UK support page says “Up to 3 years” for OS upgrades and security patches; its Brazil announcement says up to three software updates and four security updates. Check the commitment attached to the version sold in your country rather than treating either wording as a universal promise. Motorola UK support; Motorola Brazil’s announcement.

Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Motorola if its listed periscope zoom, 90W wired charging, wireless charging or higher-resolution display best fits your priorities—and the local version and price work for you.
- Consider the TECNO if the Alive Matrix rear display is appealing and its listed camera setup, 45W charging and local price suit your needs.
- Before deciding, verify the exact regional SKU, physical RAM and storage, network bands, charger included, warranty, and current price. For camera or performance priorities, use independent samples or matched tests rather than relying on specifications alone.
