The “$200” shorthand comes from its announced Canadian starting price of $199 in January 2025; TCL’s US store displayed the 128GB model for $179.99 when checked in 2026. Those are different markets and price snapshots, not a single current price guarantee.
What the TCL 60 XE NXTPAPER 5G offers
This is an affordable 5G Android phone whose standout feature is its screen and reading mode, rather than a claim of flagship performance. TCL lists Android 15, a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of built-in storage. Its US product page showed the 128GB configuration at $179.99, alongside a $249.99 regular price, at the time checked; prices and availability can change. TCL’s US product page identifies both storage configurations.

How the NXTPAPER display and Max Ink mode work
Color LCD for everyday use
TCL specifies a 6.78-inch FHD+ IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate. The company says its NXTPAPER technology is designed to reduce glare and filter blue light while preserving color. That describes TCL’s display design and comfort positioning; it is not evidence that the phone prevents eye strain, protects eye health, or treats an eye condition. TCL’s product specifications list the screen size and refresh rate.

One-button switch to reading mode
A physical NXTPAPER Key activates Max Ink Mode, which TCL describes as a monochrome, e-reader-like view that mutes notifications. The mode is intended to make reading more focused, but TCL’s launch announcement is the source for the claimed behavior and battery figures, not an independent test. TCL said Max Ink Mode could provide up to seven days of reading and cited up to 26 days of standby; the announcement does not establish those as typical results across users or conditions. TCL’s CES 2025 announcement gives those claims.

Battery, cameras, and storage
TCL lists a 5,010mAh battery, a 50MP rear main camera, and a 32MP front camera. These are specifications, not independent measures of battery life, speed, or image quality. The available materials do not establish how long the phone lasts in ordinary mixed use or how its cameras compare with similarly priced phones.
Built-in storage is 128GB or 256GB depending on configuration. TCL also says the phone accepts a microSD card of up to 2TB, sold separately. That is an expansion option, not additional storage included with the phone. TCL’s specification page lists the card support.

Quick Recap
Who should consider it—and what to check first
- Consider it if you want a large color screen, a physical shortcut to a quieter monochrome reading mode, and expandable storage in a lower-priced 5G Android phone.
- Do not buy it on an eye-health promise. TCL describes reduced glare and blue-light filtering, but the cited materials do not establish a clinical benefit for this specific phone.
- Check your carrier before ordering. The cited product information does not establish compatibility with a particular carrier or confirm coverage for your location.
- Check TCL’s current update policy. The cited materials identify Android 15 but do not state a software-update support window.
- Confirm the listing details. Verify local price, storage size, stock, and whether a microSD card is included; TCL says the card is sold separately.
