CHOICE gives it a 72% Expert Rating and praises the remote, but it flags a contrasty image with some black crush and a stand that cannot be angled. CHOICE’s Australian listing also marks the model discontinued, so check local stock and the exact model suffix before you consider it.

What the independent review found
CHOICE’s review of the C635 lists the remote control among its pros. Its cons are two: the stand does not allow screen-angle adjustment, and the picture is contrasty with some black crush, meaning shadow detail in dark scenes can be lost. CHOICE presents most of its detailed test measurements to members only, so this article does not report any hidden results. The accessible review page does not show a publication date.

Read the review as a summary of the points CHOICE chose to publicly flag, not as a full lab report.
Picture and brightness: claims versus evidence
TCL’s own numbers look competitive on paper: 300 nits of brightness and a 5000:1 contrast ratio on the Australian sheet. Those are declared specifications. No independent brightness or contrast measurement is available from the sources used here, so treat them as the manufacturer’s claims.
The black crush CHOICE noted is the most relevant picture caveat for buyers who watch films or other dark content in a bright room. The sources do not establish how the set handles screen reflections, so judge that in person if glare is a concern.

Gaming and connections
The Australian sheet lists Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and two HDMI inputs. CHOICE’s listing states HDMI 2.1 support at 4K and 120Hz as “Not stated.” That means this set should not be bought on the assumption of 4K/120Hz output for a current-generation console or high-refresh PC.
Use this wording when describing the set: “The Australian specification sheet lists Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and the set has two HDMI inputs.” Avoid describing it as a confirmed 4K/120Hz or high-refresh gaming TV.
The rest of the connection set is modest. Beyond the two HDMI inputs, there is one USB 3.0 input, HDMI eARC for a soundbar or receiver, and Bluetooth 5.1.

- Your next Roku TV: This Roku TV puts thousands of free and premium streaming channels, live local news, sports, and movies in one simple home screen - no extra streaming device needed
- QLED Color: a premium upgrade you might not expect! This Smart TV looks brighter and more vivid than standard LED televisions to bring your content to life

- Seamless casting from your devices: Built-in Google Cast and Apple AirPlay 2 let you mirror photos, videos, and apps from your phone or laptop straight to the big screen
- Right-sized for any room: At 31.5" viewable and roughly 28" wide, this compact smart TV 32 inch is ideal as a bedroom TV, dorm room TV, kitchen TV, or second TV - and mounts easily with 100x100 VESA compatibility
Wall mounting
The set supports a standard 200 × 200 VESA pattern, so it can be wall mounted. The bracket is sold separately, and the Australian sheet does not include one.
- Confirm the TV’s VESA pattern is 200 × 200 with M6 screws, using the back of your set or the TCL Australia specification sheet.
- Buy a bracket rated for at least the TV’s net weight: 7.8 kg without the stand, or 7.9 kg with it.
- Check that the bracket’s supported patterns include 200 × 200 and that its screw positions match the four mounting points.
- Fix the bracket to a wall that can carry the load, using fixings suited to that wall. If you are unsure, have a professional install it.
Do not assume a generic mount fits. Check the bracket’s stated VESA support and weight limit before buying.

Warranty terms are another point to verify. CHOICE lists a three-year warranty for the Australian model. Warranty terms in other markets are not stated in the sources used here, so confirm them with the seller or local TCL distributor before you buy.
Checks before you buy
- Confirm the exact model number and suffix for your region. Listings for the same name can differ in ports, warranty and features.
- Check that the seller has current stock. A discontinued status can mean limited or old stock.
- Verify the warranty term and what it covers in your country.
- If you plan to mount the TV, buy the bracket separately and check its VESA and weight ratings against the figures above.
- If gaming at 4K/120Hz matters to you, do not rely on this model. Check the set’s specific HDMI 2.1 capability with the manufacturer for your region.
How to compare it with other 43-inch TVs
A fair comparison with another 43-inch set should cover these areas:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Independent picture-quality findings, including black-level performance.
- Confirmed native refresh rate and console or PC input support, not just HDMI labels.
- Measured brightness and reflection handling.
- Smart-TV platform and app availability.
- Audio and eARC support.
- Stand adjustment, VESA compatibility and local warranty.
- Current local price and stock.
The sources behind this article do not provide enough independent measurements to rank the 43C635 against competing sets on these points, so make the comparison with current local data.
The C635 fits a buyer who wants a basic 43-inch 4K Google TV with ALLM and eARC, who can accept a fixed stand and some risk of black crush, and who is not depending on 4K/120Hz gaming.
Based on these sources, we would not recommend it as a gaming-first purchase or as the default choice for a dark-room home cinema.
