Tangem Pay is a virtual Visa card with a broad merchant footprint, but opening an account is limited to eligible residents in the United States and select countries. Tangem publishes figures of more than 150 countries and 150 million merchants for card acceptance; those figures do not show how many people can enroll or prove that global demand exceeds access.
Can you get Tangem Pay where you live?
Possibly, but Visa acceptance alone does not determine whether you can sign up. Tangem says Tangem Pay is available in the United States and select countries across Latin America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. Some countries and US states are excluded, and Tangem directs applicants to check availability during onboarding. The distinction is between enrollment geography and merchant reach: eligibility governs whether a resident can open an account, while the Visa network governs where an eligible cardholder may be able to pay. Tangem says the card can be accepted in over 150 countries and at over 150 million merchants worldwide. These are Tangem’s published figures, not a measure of sign-up availability.
What Tangem Pay includes
A virtual card, not a physical payment card
Tangem Pay is a payment account and virtual Visa card accessed through the Tangem Wallet app. Tangem says the card can be used online, in stores, for bookings and subscriptions, and with Apple Pay or Google Pay where those services are available. A physical payment card is described as planned, not as the current card format. Check the current product page for supported assets and networks; Tangem’s March 26, 2026 announcement, updated May 27, 2026, described USDC on Polygon at launch, but that older description should not be treated as a current support list.

A separate wallet prerequisite
Tangem says a Tangem Wallet is required to activate Tangem Pay. The wallet and the payment account are separate products: the wallet is Tangem’s hardware-wallet product, while Tangem Pay is the payment service and virtual card. Buying a Tangem hardware wallet does not make the Visa card physical or remove regional eligibility limits.
Provider, issuer and custody descriptions
Tangem identifies Paera LLC as the provider of Tangem Pay to eligible users and Rain as the card issuer. Tangem’s product page says: “The Tangem Pay Visa card is issued by Rain, a Visa Principal Member.” The company also says Tangem AG, which makes the hardware wallet, does not operate the payment program.

Tangem describes the service as a regulated payment account and says neither Tangem AG nor Paera LLC holds user funds in custody, with assets remaining in a self-custodial smart contract. These are Tangem’s descriptions of its arrangements, not an independent assessment of the service’s regulatory status or custody model.

The product’s published acceptance footprint can sound global, but it does not mean every country or state can enroll. Nor do the official product and help pages establish that demand for Tangem Pay exceeds the number of people who can access it. They provide no demand statistic, excluded-applicant count, waitlist measure or other direct comparison. The defensible conclusion is narrower: Tangem describes broad Visa acceptance alongside selective account availability.
