TableTop Arbiter is a web-based AI assistant for answering tabletop game rules questions, with its current focus on Magic: The Gathering. Its creator describes a system that retrieves structured rules and errata and shows the material behind a proposed ruling. That describes the project’s design, not proven “zero-hallucination” accuracy: the available account is a creator submission, not an independent test or tournament validation.
What TableTop Arbiter is
Ayush Gupta presented TableTop Arbiter on DEV Community on September 30, 2026, as an assistant intended to help resolve rules disputes in competitive tabletop games. It is software rather than a physical tabletop product. The submission says the application is currently heavily optimized for Magic: The Gathering; broader game coverage is not established.

The creator calls it a “zero-hallucination AI Head Tournament Judge.” Treat that as promotional language, not a verified result: the submission does not report an accuracy benchmark or validation by tournament judges.
How its rules lookup is designed to work
The central idea is to keep rules and updates as structured, linked content, retrieve material relevant to a question, and display provenance alongside the answer. The creator says the knowledge base is stored in Sanity Content Lake and includes three content types:

According to the submission, the application implements Sanity Context MCP tools named initial_context, knowledge_base_read, and groq_query. Its intended workflow finds a relevant base rule, checks for linked errata, and displays retrieved-document provenance in the interface, including a “Ruling Slip.” The author contrasts this approach with relying on vector similarity alone; that is a design rationale, not evidence from a comparative test.
The Ward and Carnage Tyrant example
The submission demonstrates the assistant with the question, “Does Ward counter the fight spell?” In its scenario, a player casts a fight spell at a creature with Ward {2} and controls Carnage Tyrant, whose text says the spell cannot be countered.

As described by the creator, the assistant retrieves Comprehensive Rules 604.3a and 113.6 and concludes that Carnage Tyrant’s ability functions on the stack, not on the battlefield. On that account, if the player cannot pay {2}, Ward triggers and counters the fight spell. This is the submission’s example and ruling; the current Comprehensive Rules and the answer were not independently checked here.

Magic is the established focus
The creator says the tool is heavily optimized for Magic: The Gathering. They report that loading the entire comprehensive rules corpus ran into an approximately 150-document context constraint, so the implementation shifted to dynamically retrieving relevant chapters. The figure is an implementation detail reported by the author, not a general benchmark.

Other games may require different rule structures
The submission says expansion to Warhammer 40,000 would require a schema capable of handling spatial-distance logic. This illustrates a design challenge the creator identifies; it does not establish that the system currently supports Warhammer 40,000 or other games.
OCR is a roadmap idea, not a listed feature
The creator describes real-time OCR as a future feature: a player might photograph a board state, then have the system query card Oracle text. The submission does not establish that this capability has shipped.

App, studio, and availability
The submission links a Vercel web app, a Sanity Studio, and an MCP endpoint, and says a statically seeded fallback engine is included to avoid dependence on environment variables during hackathon evaluation. Those details do not establish that the live services are currently available, reliable, or working as described; their behavior and uptime were not independently tested.
What a player or organizer should take from it
TableTop Arbiter’s notable design choice is to make rule retrieval and provenance part of the answer, rather than presenting a ruling without showing supporting documents. That may make an answer easier to inspect, but visible sources alone do not prove that retrieval is complete, that an interpretation is correct, or that the tool is suitable as the final authority in a tournament dispute.
