Each path later promotes into higher tiers. The right choice depends on whether you want melee or ranged combat, solo progress or party utility, and how much investment you are comfortable making. What are all the classes in Sword x Staff?
The class tree begins with two starting paths. Warrior branches into Duelist or Knight; Mage branches into Sorcerer or Sage. Each branch has later promotions, so the four core archetypes are not the full progression system.

BlueStacks’ class guide, published August 27, 2026, says players often use the Tier 2 names—Duelist, Knight, Sorcerer, and Sage—when discussing the branches. Prydwen’s guide index lists builds through Tier 5, including Ravager, Templar, Magister, and Prophet, so later progression extends beyond the Tier 4 names in the table. These are guide-reported class names, not an independently verified current in-game tree. BlueStacks class guide · Prydwen build-guide index

When do class promotions unlock in Sword x Staff?
BlueStacks reports this schedule for server progression. Its day count is measured from server creation, not from when an individual player starts. Level and region requirements are also part of the reported milestones.

The same guide associates Season 2 with approximately server day 47 and Tier 4. These are claims from the BlueStacks guide, not a schedule confirmed here by current official patch notes. Server age, progression, and current game rules can affect what you see; use the in-game requirements on your server as the final reference. BlueStacks class guide

Duelist: melee damage and combo play
Duelist focuses on close-range damage, critical hits, and combo chains. BlueStacks highlights lifesteal and solo progression, and presents the path as relatively accessible for free-to-play players because its core scaling is less dependent on rare pulls. Choose it if you enjoy active melee combat and want a path oriented toward progressing on your own.
Knight: defense and party tanking
Knight is the defensive path, suited to players who want to absorb pressure and serve a party as a tank. The BlueStacks guide says harder content can demand substantial Block, which may make progression more demanding for players with limited investment. Its party function may still matter more to a tank-focused player than solo speed.

Sorcerer: ranged damage
Sorcerer deals damage at range and has multiple viable build directions, according to BlueStacks. The guide describes it as consistent and relatively approachable for free-to-play play. It is a natural fit if you prefer ranged combat over melee.
Sage: support, healing, and hybrid options
Sage combines support and damage possibilities, including healing, damage over time, and summons. BlueStacks describes its later-tier potential as more threatening, while noting that early solo progression may be slower. Consider it if you value party support or a flexible role and are comfortable with a less direct solo pace.

Which class is best for beginners in Sword x Staff?
There is no single beginner choice established by the available guides. Start with the role you want to play, then account for solo progress and investment:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- For melee and solo progression: Duelist is the most direct fit in the guide’s role descriptions.
- For ranged damage: Sorcerer is described as consistent and relatively approachable.
- For tanking: Knight offers the defensive party role, but harder content may demand substantial Block.
- For healing and flexible support: Sage offers more support and hybrid possibilities, with potentially slower early solo progress.
These are role-based suggestions, not a universal ranking. Your tier, content, investment, and preferred combat style all affect which path feels suitable.

What is the best class for free to play players in Sword x Staff?
BlueStacks specifically frames Duelist as accessible to free-to-play players because its core scaling is less reliant on rare pulls. It also describes Sorcerer as relatively approachable. Those are broad guide assessments, not guarantees that either class will outperform others in every activity or season.
Investment matters differently by role: the guide identifies Knight’s Block demands in harder content as a possible hurdle for low-investment players, while Sage’s slower early solo pace may be a consideration if rapid solo progression is your priority. Choose based on the content you play and the trade-off you are willing to accept, rather than treating “free to play” as a fixed tier ranking.
Can I change my class in Sword x Staff?
BlueStacks reports that class conversion becomes available at level 100, matches the character’s current level, and transfers pulled skills. The guide says conversion is free once per week and that additional use requires Dawnium. Because these rules can change, check the current conversion interface and displayed cost before spending currency or planning around a reset. BlueStacks class guide
How should you choose a build?
A class overview cannot substitute for a build matched to your current tier. Prydwen’s index separates guides by tier, from Warrior and Mage at Tier 1 through the Tier 5 paths, which is useful because skills and balance change as progression advances. Check the build’s tier and update date before applying it. Prydwen build-guide index
Quick Recap
- Content: Decide whether the build is for solo progression, dungeon or raid parties, or PvP.
- Role: Identify whether you need damage, tanking, healing/support, or a hybrid.
- Tier and season: Prefer advice written for your current progression; new skills can alter the class’s strengths.
- Investment: Check whether the build depends on rare pulls or high defensive stats.
- Playstyle: Match melee or ranged combat, combo activity, and tolerance for slower solo progress to your preferences.
