Switchboard Live vs Gyre for Always-On YouTube Streaming

Switchboard Live distributes a live encoder feed; Gyre loops prerecorded video from the cloud. Compare workflows, limits, pricing, and YouTube requirements before choosing.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose based on what you are streaming. Switchboard Live takes a live encoder feed and distributes it to multiple destinations; Gyre is built to loop prerecorded videos continuously from the cloud. They are not interchangeable ways to make the same source live. For prerecorded YouTube video that should keep running without a home computer, StreamNeo is another option: it runs continuously from the cloud at one flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with the first day free.

Which service fits your streaming workflow?

Service Source and purpose Where the continuous stream runs Best fit
StreamNeo Uploaded videos or a playlist, streamed to YouTube StreamNeo cloud Creators who want prerecorded video looping on YouTube without keeping a computer on
Switchboard Live A live encoder feed distributed to multiple destinations The encoder supplies the live feed; Switchboard distributes it Live productions that need multistream distribution
Gyre Prerecorded video files looped or scheduled as a continuous stream Gyre cloud Creators who want prerecorded video to run continuously without leaving their computer on

“Always-on” means different things here. Switchboard’s pricing page lists 24/7 Streams under Enterprise, but its core workflow is distributing an encoder feed. Gyre and StreamNeo instead run uploaded prerecorded video from cloud infrastructure. See Switchboard Live pricing, Switchboard Live FAQ, and Gyre’s product page.

How the services compare

Factor Switchboard Live Gyre StreamNeo
Input Live encoder feed Prerecorded files stored in Gyre Storage Uploaded recording or playlist
Always-on workflow 24/7 Streams listed on Enterprise; confirm the plan and current terms Cloud streaming of prerecorded videos; plan-specific concurrency One always-on YouTube stream per slot; 24/7 looping and playlists
Destinations Multistream distribution; FAQ says up to 30 destinations in one workflow YouTube channel authorization is described in the product update YouTube only
Input protocols FAQ says RTMP only; newer workflow help lists RTMP, RTMPS, and SRT. Confirm what your account currently supports. Not stated in the cited product materials Add your YouTube stream key once
Storage and quality FAQ’s described setup does not store or archive video; plan-dependent inputs Storage and resolution vary by tier. Trial display: 20 GB, up to 15 files, one HD stream, with a watermark. 10 GB per slot, pooled across active slots; uploaded quality preserved up to 4K 60fps
Price evidence Public-sector pricing is tailored; the reviewed public pricing page does not state an exact public price. 24/7 Streams are listed under Enterprise. Gyre’s September 2026 product update states paid plans ran from $49 to $169 per month. Its product page displayed a seven-day free trial; verify current terms and pricing. Daily $0.99 per day · Weekly $2.99 per week · Monthly $9.99 per month · 6 months $49.99 for 6 months · Yearly $89.99 a year

Switchboard’s protocol documentation is inconsistent: its FAQ says RTMP-only ingest, while its newer workflow support material lists RTMP, RTMPS, and SRT. Confirm the protocol shown for your account with Switchboard before configuring an encoder. Do not assume a protocol from one page applies to every workflow.

Costs, limits, and what to verify

Switchboard Live

Switchboard describes monthly or annual seat-based licensing, unlimited multistreaming destinations, and plan-dependent input and team-member allowances. The public pricing material places 24/7 Streams on Enterprise; the reviewed page does not provide an exact public price. Ask Switchboard for current Enterprise availability and pricing if continuous streaming is a requirement. Its FAQ describes a setup requiring an encoder, destination accounts, and a steady internet connection. It names OBS, Switcher Studio, Ecamm Live, vMix, and LiveU as examples, not mandatory hardware. The same FAQ says its described setup does not store or archive video.

Gyre

Gyre’s product page displayed a seven-day free trial with one HD stream, 20 GB storage, up to 15 files, and a watermark when accessed on October 3, 2026. The product update published in September 2026 stated that paid plans then ranged from $49 to $169 per month. These are vendor-displayed and dated terms, not guarantees of current availability or price; check the live plan page for concurrency, resolution, storage, and billing details before subscribing.

Gyre’s homepage also claims views grow 60–80% and viewers stay 2–3× longer than regular uploads. The page excerpt does not identify an independent study, publisher, or year for those figures, so treat them as an unattributed vendor marketing claim rather than established performance evidence.

Common decision traps

  • Confusing multistreaming with prerecorded looping: Switchboard distributes an encoder feed; it is not the same workflow as uploading files for cloud looping.
  • Assuming every plan has the same capacity: Switchboard’s inputs and team-member allowances and Gyre’s simultaneous streams, storage, and resolution vary by tier. Confirm current plan details before relying on a specific capacity.
  • Assuming the computer can be turned off in every setup: Gyre and StreamNeo describe cloud-based prerecorded streaming. Switchboard’s encoder-based distribution depends on the source feed remaining available.
  • Configuring an encoder from outdated protocol information: Switchboard’s FAQ and newer workflow documentation differ; confirm supported ingest with your account or support.
  • Assuming a continuous stream guarantees audience or revenue results: No service removes YouTube eligibility, copyright, or content-policy requirements, and Gyre’s performance figures are not independently attributed in the cited page.
