Swag On The Beat: How the Melbourne trio turned viral TikToks into a full-time comedy career

Swag On The Beat is the Melbourne comedy group formed by Jack Say, Sam Zito and Isaac Gibbons. They began posting improvised videos in 2020, discovered that an early supermarket gag had gone viral only weeks later, and by 2023 had left outside employment to work across short-form video, brand partnerships, live comedy, podcasting and merchandise. The project remains publicly active in 2026, although its current podcast is presented by Jack and Isaac rather than automatically representing every original-member project.

Who are Swag On The Beat?

Swag On The Beat is a Melbourne-based Australian sketch-comedy trio, not an anonymous TikTok account. The original members are Jack Say, Sam Zito and Isaac Gibbons, identified in profiles by PerthNow and Region Canberra.

The name now covers a wider content operation. The official Swag On The Beat site describes the work as funny, absurd and punchy, while the current podcast listing identifies Jack and Isaac as its hosts. That is a project-specific change in format, not confirmation that Sam has permanently left the broader brand.

How the group started

The trio began making and posting videos in 2020 mainly to entertain themselves. Their first major breakthrough used an ordinary supermarket situation: three people reaching for the same item. They initially did not realise how well the clip was performing; when they checked again about a month after posting, it had taken off.

#1 Best Overall
GOHD 3pcs Farmhouse Kitchen Cafe Curtain Set Air Brushed by Hand of Sunflower and Butterfly Design on Thick Satin Fabric (Swag and 36 inches Tiers Set)
  • SPRAY PAINTED BY HAND ON WHITE GROUND FABRIC. Very beautiful colors. Please note that the SUNFLOWER COLOR is more close to ORANGE color, not YELLOW color.
  • NICE SUNFLOWER & BUTTERFLY DESIGN, A HEARTTHROB.
  • THICK & HEAVY FABRIC. According to reviews for my other air-brushed kitchen curtains, customers like the nice design and colors of air-brushing, but perfer a heavier fabric. So we develop this item, and its quality/price ratio is much higher. Greatly recommended !
  • Kitchen Curtains and Valances Set: Swag valance of about 58" wide x 35" long / 2pcs tiers of about 29" wide x 35.5" long each. It can fit for window size of about 38"~54" (96 ~138cm)wide, 50"~62" (127 ~158cm) length. You can also use swag or the 2 tiers alone for small windows.

That makes the story less of an overnight experiment than it first appears. The creators had reportedly been making videos since they were teenagers, so the viral clip was a delayed discovery of work already in progress rather than their first attempt at comedy. The 2023 PerthNow profile records individual videos reaching up to 12.9 million views during that period, a historical peak rather than a current average.

What their comedy is built on

Everyday premise, unreasonable escalation

A Swag sketch usually starts with something recognisable: shopping, a social interaction or another mundane Australian situation. The joke then veers into an unexpectedly extreme or illogical response.

Fast, character-led pacing

Short edits, awkward characters and sudden turns deliver the payoff quickly. The performers’ friendship and timing provide continuity even when the scenario becomes deliberately strange.

Relatability before absurdity

The familiar setup gives viewers an entry point, while the bizarre escalation supplies the shareable surprise. This combination is why the videos can feel both everyday and wacky, a balance the group and its official site describe in terms such as “relatable,” “absurd” and “punchy.”

Why they left regular employment

By 2023, all three were working on Swag On The Beat full time. The available profiles do not give exact resignation dates, salaries or evidence that the decisions happened simultaneously, so “quit their jobs” should not be read as a detailed financial account.

  • Jack Say: had owned a music school.
  • Isaac Gibbons: had completed a commerce and economics degree.
  • Sam Zito: had worked as a primary-school teacher.

The decision followed sustained audience traction and expanding opportunities rather than a single lucky upload. Full-time creator work also did not mean that TikTok alone paid their bills. Their reported activities combined several formats and commercial channels.

How online attention became a business

In 2023, Region Canberra reported more than two million combined followers across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. That figure is a dated snapshot, not a dependable 2026 total. The same report named Red Bull, Pepsi and PlayStation among the group’s commercial partners and referred to the related YouTube series Chat on the Beat.

Channel What it contributes What is established
Short-form social video Reach, discovery and repeat viewing Videos posted to TikTok and distributed through other social platforms; a 2023 report recorded a peak of up to 12.9 million views for individual videos.
Brand partnerships Sponsored campaign income and exposure Red Bull, Pepsi and PlayStation were named in 2023 coverage; individual contract values are not stated.
YouTube and related series Longer viewing and an additional advertising environment Chat on the Beat was identified by Region Canberra.
Live comedy Ticket revenue and direct audience contact The trio toured an expanded stage show in 2023.
Podcasting Regular audience habit and potential sponsorship inventory The Jack-and-Isaac podcast remained listed through July 2026; one episode listing includes a NordVPN promotion, without stating compensation.
Merchandise Direct fan support and branded products The official store lists apparel and novelty items in Australian dollars.

Views and follower counts show distribution, not profit. A sustainable creator business depends on converting attention into several kinds of work while accepting that sponsorships, tickets, advertising and merchandise have different costs and risks.

How they adapted the videos for a live show

The 2023 production combined sketches, prose, audience interaction and a longer-form narrative. On stage, the performers could develop a joke beyond a short clip and give characters more room to evolve. The challenge was keeping the quick rhythm that audiences associated with their feeds while adding transitions and story.

The documented 2023 tour included Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. PerthNow reported a Perth performance at the Astor Theatre on July 20, 2023; the Canberra listing advertised July 26, 2023. Those dates are historical and are not a current event schedule.

What Swag On The Beat is doing now

Public listings show an active brand in 2026, but they do not establish a current follower total, income or exact membership arrangements.

  • The official website continues to describe the brand and link to its social presence.
  • The official podcast page presents Jack and Isaac as hosts.
  • Podcast directories list episodes through July 2026, including episode 84, “Annoying enough to not do anything.” See the Pocket Casts listing and Podcast Republic archive.
  • The official merchandise store lists Eshay Black and Tough Decisions White T-shirts at AUD $40 each, an “Anything Else I Can Help You With?” apron at AUD $40, and a Leased mug at AUD $20 in 2026 search results. Stock, shipping and prices can change.

What their career path actually demonstrates

Swag On The Beat’s rise was not a repeatable formula of uploading once and resigning. The group had years of practice, a recognisable three-person chemistry, a viral discovery, and enough audience momentum to test commercial partnerships and ticketed performance. The move from feeds to a stage also required changing the length and structure of jokes without losing pace.

For creator-economy observers, the useful distinction is between reach and a business. TikTok helped people find the trio; brand campaigns, live shows, longer video, podcasting and merchandise gave that attention more than one route to become work. The 2026 podcast and store show continued public activity, while the available evidence does not justify claiming that every original member appears in every current project.
