CHOICE classifies the Torino as a semi-automatic espresso machine and marks the PU8000 discontinued. Its product page lists these specifications; they are published product data, not independent performance findings. CHOICE’s PU8000 listing records a $2,199 price, but that is a page price, not a current offer or proof of stock.

The dimensions and weight matter if you are fitting the machine beneath cabinets or moving it onto a bench. The stated pump pressure is a specification; on its own, it does not tell you whether the machine makes consistent espresso.
How the machine and included grinder are described
Appliances Online’s product description says two thermoblocks stabilize brew temperature and a third produces steam. It describes one-touch buttons for one or two shots, plus a manual extraction arm with a shot clock. These are retailer descriptions, not results from an independent test. The set includes a separate, belt-driven conical-burr grinder. The retailer describes Tap & Go dosing directly into the filter basket. That setup gives you a grinder with the machine, but buyers should inspect its operation and adjustment mechanism as carefully as the espresso unit.
CHOICE’s listed package contents
CHOICE lists the machine and grinder, group handle, one- and two-cup single-wall filters, one- and two-cup dual-wall filters, coffee tamp, cleaning disc, milk-frothing jug and literature. A used or clearance listing may not include everything on that list; confirm the contents of the specific unit before buying.

What is—and is not—known about performance
CHOICE’s accessible product page does not disclose its Expert Rating, taste, ease-of-use, milk-frothing or temperature-consistency scores, or measured timing results. Those results are behind member access. It would be misleading to infer them from the listed specifications or from owner ratings.

Buying a discontinued PU8000: checks that matter
A listing may be new old stock, refurbished or used, and those categories can mean different condition, return rights and warranty eligibility. Establish what the seller is actually offering rather than relying on a product page that describes the model in general.
- Condition: Ask whether the machine and grinder have been used, repaired or refurbished. Inspect for damage, leaks, corrosion, missing parts and signs of poor storage.
- Operation: If possible, see the machine heat, extract and steam, and confirm the grinder runs and adjusts. A visual inspection alone cannot establish performance.
- Included parts: Compare the actual accessories with CHOICE’s package list, particularly the group handle, all four filters, cleaning disc and jug.
- History and recourse: Ask for service records, the seller’s return terms and written confirmation of any warranty. Do not assume the original one-year listing means a used or old-stock unit remains covered.
- Local support: Check whether service is available for your location and whether needed parts can actually be obtained. Sunbeam Australia’s service-agent directory lists service contacts, but does not establish that every PU8000 part remains available.
Using and maintaining the machine
The Sunbeam Torino user guide covers operation, grinder adjustment, cleaning and recalibration. Follow its model-specific instructions, especially when adjusting or cleaning a machine whose history is uncertain. The guide also notes: “When making coffee regardless of the brewing method the flavour of the resulting brew depends largely on the quality, freshness and roast of the coffee beans used.” That is a reminder that shot quality depends on the beans as well as the equipment; the available evidence does not support a guaranteed result.

How to compare a remaining PU8000 with alternatives
There is no head-to-head test established here against a current machine. Compare the actual unit and offer, not just model names or headline specifications.

- Space and handling: account for the listed 48 × 28 × 43 cm footprint and 19.1 kg weight.
- Grinding: check whether an alternative includes a grinder, how it adjusts and how it doses into the basket.
- Control style: consider whether you want the PU8000’s described one-touch shot buttons and manual extraction arm, or another machine’s approach.
- Support: verify service and parts access for the exact model and your location.
