CHOICE’s public specification panel also lists a 5.5-litre capacity and oval shape, but gives dimensions of 20 × 45 × 29 cm and weight of 5.9 kg. Those measurements conflict; the available information does not explain whether the difference reflects measurement methods or product data. Check the physical space and lifting weight against the unit or retailer details before purchase rather than treating the figures as interchangeable.

Does the HP5520 have a keep-warm setting?
Yes. Sunbeam lists three settings: low, high and keep warm. The published specifications establish that the setting is available, but do not give a keep-warm temperature or specify how long food can safely remain on it.

Can the ceramic crock go in the oven?
Sunbeam says the ceramic crock insert is oven safe. That applies to the removable insert only; the product information does not identify the heating base or complete appliance as oven safe. Sunbeam also says the bowl and glass lid are dishwasher safe. CHOICE’s public specifications say the bowl is suitable for dishwasher and fridge use. Follow the product instructions when moving the crock between appliances.
Is the Sunbeam SecretChef HP5520 any good?
There is not enough publicly visible independent test information to give a defensible cooking-performance verdict. CHOICE lists the HP5520 as a tested model, but its public page restricts the Expert Rating, low- and high-setting cooking results, ease-of-use scores, food temperatures and pros and cons to members. For a buying decision based on confirmed facts, the HP5520 offers a large 5.5-litre listed capacity, three settings and a removable ceramic bowl. If cooking consistency, temperature control or ease of cleaning are decisive, seek the full test results or another source that publishes those findings rather than inferring performance from the feature list.
What should you know about heat and placement?
Sunbeam says the outer body becomes hot during use because the element wraps around the cooker. Use the handles to lift or move it. The HP5520 user guide gives additional placement and operating precautions:

- Do not touch metal surfaces while hot.
- Keep the cooker away from walls and curtains, and do not use it in a confined space.
- Do not immerse the base in water.
- Protect the bench with a heatproof mat or chopping board. The guide says: “Do not operate slow cooker when placed directly onto a bench top. Place a heat proof mat or chopping board underneath to protect the surface.”

Sunbeam’s Australian product page lists a 12-month replacement warranty and displays a price of AUD 69.95. Both are page-listed details, not a guarantee of current price or stock; Sunbeam advises checking with retailers for availability. CHOICE’s public page lists a one-year warranty and a $70.00 price, but does not show a publication date, so that figure should not be treated as a live quote.
