The maker lists a planned Q4 2027 launch and an expected $249 retail price, but neither delivery nor final terms are confirmed. “iPod clone” is a shorthand for its familiar pocket-player format, not an established product category or a claim that it has been tested.
What is the Sudo music player?
New Matter describes Sudo as “a dedicated music player by New Matter. Your library, offline and in your pocket, with a tactile wheel that puts you in control.” Its listed design pairs a physical control wheel with a 2.73-inch touchscreen. The combination recalls the classic personal music player, while the product remains a planned device rather than a shipped, independently reviewed one.

Does Sudo work with streaming services?
New Matter labels playback “Offline + streaming,” but does not name any supported service or explain how streaming would work. AppleInsider’s October 6, 2026 report says streaming-service compatibility probably will not be available; that is the outlet’s assessment, not a confirmed compatibility list. Until New Matter identifies services and explains access, do not assume Spotify, Apple Music or another service will work. See AppleInsider’s October 6, 2026 report.
How much will Sudo cost, and what does a reservation mean?
New Matter says the expected retail price is $249. The company’s reservation page describes a refundable $50 deposit credited toward that expected purchase price.
