It brings explanations, quizzes, flashcards, study planning, and other tools into one app, with responses generated through Ollama running llama3.2:latest.
The project is best understood as a personal attempt to make studying feel more manageable—not as a proven learning intervention. Bobbili reports that her friend found concepts easier to handle and quick revision helpful, but that feedback comes from one person, not a controlled study.

Why Bobbili built StudySaathi AI 2.0
The project began with a practical question: “How can I make studying easier and more manageable for my friend?” Bobbili says her friend wanted simpler explanations, more time to work through topics step by step, and an easier way to revise. English spellings and complicated concepts were among the specific challenges she had in mind.

Its features gather several common study activities—learning a concept, practicing it, reviewing it, and organizing time—in one place.

What the study companion includes
Study Buddy for explanations and revision
Students can type or speak a question and ask for a beginner-friendly explanation, a step-by-step lesson, a real-world example, a 10-mark exam-style answer, or a five-point quick revision. The project account describes support for English, Telugu, and Hindi, along with voice input, audio readout, and Mermaid diagrams or flowcharts.
Quizzes and flashcards
Adaptive quizzes are intended for practice and mastery tracking, including identifying topics that may need more practice. Flashcards offer “Needs Practice” and “Mastered” states, and the author also describes an option to hear a flashcard question read aloud.
Planning, notes, and coding practice
- Study planner: Enter syllabus topics, the days remaining, and available study hours; the planner organizes work into Learn, Practice, Quiz, and Revision.
- Notes to questions: Use pasted notes or PDF/text input to generate practice questions.
- Code playground: The listed examples include linear regression, decision trees, binary search, and a quadratic solver.
- Dashboard and focus tools: A dashboard shows study progress and planning, alongside a Pomodoro-style focus timer.
These are features reported by the project’s author; they should not be taken as independently verified functionality or evidence that the tools improve learning outcomes.

- 52 Weeks Undated Planner : No preprinted fixed dates allow you to start planning at any week without wasting blank pages. You can pause recording and resume later freely, avoiding unnecessary page waste caused by interrupted use of dated planners.

- DETAILED DAILY TO DO LIST: The page is divided into independent writing areas for Monday through Weekend. You can sort and record work assignments, study tasks and personal errands separately, so important schedules will not be forgotten or omitted.
- BUILT-IN HABIT TRACKER TABLE: Special grid area supports marking daily habit completion status, with columns for goal setting and weekly achievement statistics. It helps you intuitively track persistence progress without purchasing an extra separate habit journal.
- FLAT LAY SPIRAL BINDING: Double wire coil binding enables the planner to lie fully flat for smooth writing without flipping back. Compact lightweight body is easy to slip into backpacks and tote bags, suitable for office work, school study and travel arrangement.
How the local AI setup is described
Bobbili describes the flow as student → browser → Flask → local Ollama → response → browser. The browser frontend communicates with a Flask backend, SQLite stores data, and Ollama is called when an AI response is needed. The author says the app uses llama3.2:latest.
The implementation stack she lists includes HTML5, CSS3, vanilla JavaScript/ES6, Python, Flask, Flask-CORS, PDF/text processing, and SQLite. For voice features, the project description names browser speech recognition and audio readout; Mermaid.js is used for diagrams. This is the author’s implementation description, not an inspection of the code.
Ollama’s model library lists text-only Llama 3.2 models in 1B and 3B parameter sizes and shows a 2.0 GB download for the default llama3.2:latest entry. That is the model download size, not a full computer memory requirement or a guarantee about performance. Ollama’s September 25, 2024 announcement describes running Llama 3.2 through Ollama and gives ollama run llama3.2 as a start command.

What local inference changes—and what it does not
In this project, generating responses locally is intended to reduce dependence on a paid external AI API for the core AI interaction. It also means the model can run on the student’s computer when the model and suitable hardware are available, rather than requiring each AI request to be sent to an external model service.
That design is not, by itself, a privacy guarantee. The project account does not audit data flows, browser speech recognition, hosting, or telemetry. Nor does it provide a minimum hardware specification, latency measurements, accuracy evaluation, or a comparison with cloud models. Local inference depends on the computer’s resources, and Bobbili notes that smaller local models may not match very large cloud models.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is known about the friend’s experience
Bobbili reports that her friend tried the project and said concepts and subjects felt easier to handle, while quick revision was helpful. That is useful context for why the project matters to its author, but it is informal feedback from a single friend. It does not establish improved grades, durable learning, or effectiveness for other students.
