Collect 2 Silver Rusty Bolts from Mineshaft, 5 Scrap Metal from The Depths during daytime, and 1 Lunar String from Desolate Deep, then return to Dr. Crookspine. The rod is reported as a free quest reward, not a shop purchase.

- Travel to the oil rig off Roslit Bay and enter the Laboratory.
- Speak with Dr. Crookspine to begin the quest.
Both available guides name Dr. Crookspine at the Laboratory as the quest giver and turn-in NPC. Their route descriptions agree on the requested materials and destinations. Fish at Desolate Deep until you have one Lunar String. The guides recommend a Moonlit Rod and Mutated Sharky.
AllThings.How describes a Mutation Totem followed by appraisal as a possible substitute for Mutated Sharky for the Silver and Lunar mutations. That is a secondary-source workaround, not an independently verified method.

Turn in the items and claim the rod
Once you have all three materials, return to the Laboratory and hand them to Dr. Crookspine. The guides report that he awards the Scavenger Rod for free when the quest is complete.
