First check YouTube Studio, not just your public channel page. Open YouTube Studio → Content → Live and look under Live Now, Upcoming, and Live Replay. If the broadcast is listed, check its channel and visibility; if it is absent or shows a connection error, verify Talk Studio’s YouTube destination and setup requirements.
Find the stream’s status in YouTube Studio
A stream missing from the public channel page may still exist as a scheduled event, a private or unlisted broadcast, or a replay. Studio’s status tells you which path to troubleshoot.

- Sign in to the YouTube account for the channel you intended to stream to.
- Open YouTube Studio → Content → Live.
- Check each status group: Live Now for an active broadcast, Upcoming for a scheduled event, and Live Replay for an ended stream.
- If it is upcoming, open the event in Live Control Room and confirm its scheduled time and settings. YouTube says scheduled streams may appear to subscribers as upcoming, with a “Notify me” option. An upcoming event is not yet a live broadcast.
YouTube’s webcam live-stream guide explains the Live tab and Live Control Room. A missing listing on the public channel alone does not prove that Talk Studio failed to create the event.

Confirm the channel and destination
Make sure the event belongs to the exact YouTube channel you expected. Streamlabs calls linked social accounts “Destinations.” In Talk Studio, open the account icon, go to Account Settings → Destinations, and confirm the YouTube destination. If you have multiple accounts sharing an email address, Streamlabs advises logging out of the wrong account domain before reconnecting so you can select the intended account.

Check visibility
In the event settings, verify whether the stream is Public, Private, or Unlisted. Private and unlisted streams are not public channel listings. If the event appears in Studio but not to the intended audience, check visibility before treating it as a Talk Studio fault. YouTube documents these options in Manage live stream settings.

Confirm Talk Studio’s YouTube prerequisites
Streamlabs’ current help instructions say the YouTube channel must be verified and must first complete a webcam live stream from YouTube Studio. After that initial Studio stream, Streamlabs says to wait 24 hours before going live to the channel from Talk Studio. This is Streamlabs’ stated setup requirement; check the channel’s own completion status rather than assuming it has been met.
- Complete YouTube channel verification. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guide covers verification and restrictions.
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go live → Right now → Built-in webcam and complete an initial webcam stream.
- For this verification stream, Streamlabs recommends setting visibility to Unlisted so it does not appear in public channel search results.
- Wait 24 hours from that initial YouTube Studio stream before starting a Talk Studio broadcast to the channel.
Streamlabs published its destination instructions on April 7, 2023, and last updated them April 25, 2025. The 24-hour wait applies to Talk Studio setup after the initial Studio stream; it does not mean later Talk Studio broadcasts should be unlisted.

If Talk Studio cannot connect or the broadcast never starts
Separate a connection failure from a visibility issue. If the event never appears in Studio, confirm that Talk Studio is connected to the intended YouTube account and that the channel prerequisites above are complete. If Talk Studio reports an error, note its exact text and follow Streamlabs’ destination troubleshooting guide.
YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting advises refreshing the stream key in Live Control Room and updating the encoder when an encoder connection error occurs. Apply that only if your Talk Studio connection actually uses a stream key; if you sign in to third-party software without entering one, YouTube directs you to that software’s support team. Do not post or send a stream key in a public support request. See Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.
