Next check browser permissions, your connection, and YouTube Studio for an error or an already-active stream. The message alone does not identify one universal cause, so work through these checks in order.
1. Confirm YouTube eligibility and initial-live setup
Streamlabs’ Talk Studio troubleshooting guidance says a channel must be verified and must first complete a live session through YouTube Studio’s built-in webcam. For a newly verified channel, Streamlabs says verification takes about 24 hours. After the initial YouTube Studio live session, it says to wait a further 24 hours before using Talk Studio. These are documented setup steps, not a requirement that every established channel repeat them.

- Complete YouTube channel verification if the channel is not verified. Allow about 24 hours for verification, as Streamlabs’ guidance advises.
- In YouTube Studio, go to Create > Go-live > Right now > Built-in webcam and complete an initial live session. Streamlabs recommends setting this test stream to Unlisted.
- Wait 24 hours after that session before trying Talk Studio again.

2. Verify the YouTube account and destination
Make sure Talk Studio is connected to the intended YouTube account and that the correct channel is selected as the destination. If several Google or YouTube accounts are signed in, the connected account may not be the one you expect.

- Review the selected YouTube destination in Talk Studio.
- If the wrong account is connected, sign out of the relevant platform domain before adding the destination again, then authenticate with the intended account. Streamlabs specifically cautions users with multiple accounts to do this.
- Confirm the stream details, including title and description, and then select Go Live.

3. Check browser permissions and devices
Talk Studio runs in a browser and requests access to the camera and microphone. If a permission prompt never appeared, the site may be blocked from using one or both devices.

- Open the browser’s lock or site-information icon beside the address bar and allow camera and microphone access for Talk Studio.
- Refresh the page after changing permissions.
- Use Talk Studio’s camera and microphone menus to choose the intended devices. A missing, disconnected, or incorrectly selected device can interfere with setup.

4. Test upload capacity and connection stability
Streamlabs recommends a stable connection, preferably Ethernet, and publishes these upload targets. They are Streamlabs’ guidance, not a guarantee that a broadcast will start or a universal YouTube requirement.

Run an upload-speed test and note the result. If the computer and router support it, try Ethernet to check whether a less stable Wi-Fi connection is contributing. A wired connection cannot resolve a channel eligibility, destination authorization, or service-side issue.

5. Check YouTube Studio for errors or an active broadcast
Look in YouTube Studio for a specific error or a live session that remains open from an earlier attempt. YouTube’s general live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends checking dashboard errors and testing the outbound internet connection; its encoder-specific advice may not map directly to Talk Studio, which is browser-based.
YouTube says a channel can have at most 10 active streams and a stream key at most 3. If either limit has been reached, another stream cannot start. Check for existing active broadcasts before retrying.

6. If “Starting” persists, capture details for support
The official guidance does not establish a universal cause or a specific reset sequence for a Talk Studio broadcast stuck on “Starting.” Before contacting Streamlabs support, record:
- The time of the attempt and the exact Talk Studio status or error.
- Which YouTube channel is connected and whether YouTube Studio shows an error or active live event.
- Your browser, camera and microphone selections, and whether site permissions are allowed.
- A recent upload-speed result and whether you were using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Send those observations to Streamlabs support. They help distinguish an eligibility, destination, browser, network, or service-side problem without assuming a cause that has not been confirmed.
