If your Streamlabs Talk Studio YouTube broadcast has no sound, first identify what viewers cannot hear: your microphone, a guest’s microphone, or audio from shared content. Then check that source’s permission, mute state, and selection in Talk Studio. These are separate audio paths, and a fix for one may not fix the others.
Start by identifying which audio is missing
If possible, check the broadcast from another device or ask a viewer what they hear. Note whether the silence affects your voice, a guest, shared media, or everything. That distinction points to the right controls and avoids changing unrelated settings.

- Only your voice is missing: check browser microphone permission, your mute state, and the selected input device.
- A guest is silent: check whether the guest has been put on the stream.
- Shared video or computer audio is silent: check the audio option for the screen-share method and any operating-system permission it requires.
- Everything appears silent: check the sources individually, then verify that YouTube is configured and selected as a destination.
Fix a missing host microphone
- Allow microphone access in the browser. Talk Studio is browser-based and requests permission to use devices. If no permission prompt appears, click the lock icon beside the address bar, review the site permissions, and allow microphone access. Refresh the page if needed.
- Check that you are not muted. In Talk Studio, confirm the host’s mute control is off.
- Select the intended input. Click the arrow beside Mute and choose the microphone you want to use. If more than one input is listed, select the one connected to your voice rather than assuming the browser has chosen correctly.
- Speak and check the result. If the selected device still does not capture your voice, revisit browser permission and the device selection before trying other changes.
Streamlabs’ Talk Studio getting-started guide lists Google Chrome and Safari among the supported browser requirements. If you are using another browser, try a listed one before treating the issue as a hardware fault. Streamlabs Talk Studio Getting Started

Check whether the guest is still waiting in the queue. In Talk Studio, move the guest to Show on stream. Streamlabs says a guest’s microphone will not sound until the guest is moved there. If the guest is already shown, have them check their own mute state and microphone selection.

Fix audio from a shared screen, tab, or background track
Screen or tab audio
When the selected screen-sharing method offers it, enable Share System Audio or Share tab audio. These options are distinct from your microphone: allowing the microphone does not automatically capture sound playing in a shared tab or on the computer.

Mac screen-recording permission
For screen sharing on Mac, add Chrome under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording. Relaunch the browser if the permission does not take effect immediately, then start sharing again.

Streamlabs’ screen-sharing guide says Talk Studio background-audio uploads accept MP3 and WAV. If an uploaded track is silent, confirm it is in one of those formats and that the relevant audio is included in the broadcast. Streamlabs: How to Share Your Screen on Streamlabs Talk Studio

Confirm YouTube is configured as a destination
- Open Profile Picture > Account Settings > Destinations.
- Confirm YouTube has been added to the account.
- In the go-live flow, select YouTube as a destination.
A missing or unselected destination does not by itself prove that an audio route is broken. It is still worth ruling out when diagnosing what is reaching the broadcast. Streamlabs describes destination setup and selection in its Talk Studio getting-started guide.
If your workflow uses Streamlabs Desktop instead
Talk Studio and Streamlabs Desktop are different products. Do not assume Desktop controls or fixes apply to Talk Studio. If you are actually capturing audio through Streamlabs Desktop, its separate support guidance recommends checking the Desktop mixer’s mute state, audio-management utilities, Windows exclusive-mode settings, and manual selection of the desktop audio device. Treat those as Desktop troubleshooting steps, not Talk Studio settings.

When the Talk Studio checks do not resolve it
If the selected Talk Studio source appears to capture audio but YouTube viewers still hear silence, the available Talk Studio guidance does not establish a specific YouTube Studio diagnostic path for this symptom. Check current YouTube live diagnostics and playback separately rather than applying unverified Desktop advice. You can also make a short test broadcast and listen from another device to distinguish a source problem from an issue farther along the broadcast path.
