Streamlabs’ mobile-game guidance says that locking the device ends the stream; its reviewed guidance does not confirm a supported way to keep broadcasting with the screen off.
Keep the phone awake and unlocked
Streamlabs Support’s How to Stream Mobile Games guidance, dated September 30, 2026, states: “Stay unlocked while live: If your device locks, the stream will end.” So the immediate fix is to prevent the phone from locking while you are live. Keep the display on and do not press the power button to lock the device.

If you want to reduce the chance of an accidental lock, adjust the phone’s screen timeout before starting. The exact menu path and available timeout options vary by device and operating-system version. This is a practical way to keep the display awake, not a documented Streamlabs setting or a workaround that lets a locked phone continue streaming.

Check which capture mode you are using
The setup steps differ between camera streaming and screen capture, and between iOS and Android. Streamlabs’ mobile streaming guide, last updated August 12, 2026, describes choosing camera or screen sharing when going live on iOS, and adding screen capture through Scenes on Android.

Screen capture
During screen broadcasting, Streamlabs says the app is in the background and “effectively suspended,” so it cannot render things over another app. Its Mobile Streaming FAQ, dated April 25, 2025, also notes that iOS broadcast extensions have limited resources and may be terminated by the system if those limits are reached. That explanation is specific to screen broadcasting; it should not be treated as a general explanation for camera-only streams or Android behavior.
Camera streaming
If you are broadcasting from the phone’s camera rather than capturing its screen, the screen-capture suspension explanation does not apply. The lock-screen instruction still does: Streamlabs’ mobile-game guidance says a device lock ends the stream.

If the stream ends while the phone is still unlocked
When the display stays awake but the stream still stops, the lock itself may not be the cause. Streamlabs recommends closing other open apps to reduce lag or crashes and suggests using Wi-Fi for mobile gameplay streams. These are general performance suggestions, not guaranteed fixes for an unexplained disconnect.
- Confirm the phone stayed awake. Note whether the screen actually locked before the stream ended.
- Close other open apps. This can reduce resource pressure, although it does not guarantee that a stream will remain live.
- Try a stable Wi-Fi connection. Pay attention to whether the stream ends when the phone changes networks or loses connectivity.
- Record the details if it continues. Note the phone model, operating-system version, Streamlabs version, camera or screen-capture mode, whether the device remained unlocked, and any network change around the time of the failure.
- Contact Streamlabs support. The cited guidance does not provide a complete diagnostic sequence for streams that end while the phone remains awake, so avoid assuming that a particular battery or background-app setting is the answer.
Can you keep Streamlabs Mobile live with the screen off?
The cited Streamlabs guidance says to stay unlocked and does not confirm a supported screen-off workaround. Changing battery settings should not be presented as a proven fix for a stream that stops when the phone locks. If keeping the phone awake is impractical, use another streaming approach rather than relying on an unverified setting.
