Straight Talk lists a 7-Day International Roaming perk for 140+ destinations and roaming benefits in Canada and Mexico for Platinum Unlimited. International calling from the US is a separate service; it does not mean your phone will roam abroad.
Roaming abroad is different from international calling
Roaming means using mobile service while physically outside the US. Straight Talk documents a 7-Day International Roaming perk for eligible destinations and a separate roaming benefit for Platinum Unlimited in Canada and Mexico.

International calling means calling an overseas number while you are in the US. Straight Talk describes calling benefits for 200+ destinations, but explicitly says these do not include international roaming. The destination list can also distinguish between calls to landlines and mobile phones. Check Straight Talk’s international-calling information for the applicable calling destinations and terms.
Which Straight Talk options include roaming?
| Option | Where it applies | Stated allowance | Important conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7-Day International Roaming perk | 140+ destinations, according to Straight Talk Support | 7 consecutive days; 5 GB of data; 300 voice minutes; unlimited messaging | Activate within 180 days of purchase. Once activated, the days run consecutively and cannot be paused. Confirm your destination on the current coverage map. |
| Platinum Unlimited | Canada and Mexico | Unlimited text; 300 minutes of talk; 10 GB of data | This is the benefit stated for Platinum Unlimited; do not assume it applies to other plans. |
| International calling benefit | Calls from the US to listed international destinations | Platinum Unlimited describes unlimited calls and texts to 200+ destinations; benefits depend on plan or perk | This is not roaming service. Availability may differ for landline and mobile numbers. |
| Bronze plan international calling | Calls and texts from the US to Canada and Mexico | Unlimited international talk and text, according to the plan page | This calling benefit does not establish roaming abroad. |

How the 7-Day International Roaming perk works
Straight Talk Support says the perk must be activated within 180 days of purchase and lasts for seven consecutive days from activation. The service activates after you enter a roaming country and begin using the allotted service. The days cannot be paused once they begin. Straight Talk also describes limits and stacking conditions for buying multiple perks, and says account service must remain active for remaining perk access. Because these conditions may affect whether you can rely on the benefit, check the current support FAQ before travel.
Examples named for the perk include Canada, Mexico, Peru, Germany, the United Kingdom, India, Colombia, Australia, Greece, and Bangladesh. This is not a complete destination list. Use Straight Talk’s coverage map to check the exact country; the availability of the perk in a destination does not confirm coverage for a particular phone or location.

What to check before you leave
- Confirm the exact destination. Check the current coverage map and verify that the country is included for roaming, not merely listed for international calling.
- Check your plan and line. Platinum Unlimited’s stated roaming benefit applies to Canada and Mexico. For other documented destinations, check eligibility for the 7-Day International Roaming perk on your line.
- Plan activation timing. For the 7-Day perk, note the 180-day purchase-to-activation deadline and that the seven service days run consecutively once activated.
- Match the allowance to your trip. The roaming perk lists 5 GB of data, 300 voice minutes, and unlimited messaging for seven days. Platinum Unlimited lists a different allowance for Canada and Mexico.
- Verify current terms with Straight Talk. Published pages may change, and the destination list, account eligibility, and service at a particular location should be confirmed before departure.
If you only need to call another country from the US
Look at the international-calling benefit for your plan or perk and check whether the destination listing includes the type of number you need to reach. The 200+ destinations figure describes calling from the US, not a count of places where Straight Talk phones can roam.
