Mutations in Storage Hunters: Open World are item effects that can change an item’s selling value. Guides describe several ways to encounter them, but they disagree about the complete roster and exact multipliers. Treat any list or value as a guide’s report, not a definitive live-game table, and check the item’s value in-game.
What mutations do
TechWiser’s guide, updated September 27, 2026, says mutations appear on items after an auction and affect their cash value. It describes most mutations as increasing value and Dirty as reducing it. These are third-party guide claims rather than officially confirmed mechanics: TechWiser’s Storage Hunters mutations guide.

Do multiple mutations stack?
TechWiser reports that mutation bonuses add together rather than multiply, using Silver plus Gold as its example. Other reference material does not consistently agree on stacking details or reported values, so verify the displayed value in your game rather than assuming the guide’s calculation is current: TechWiser’s guide.

How to get mutated items
Third-party guides describe several possible routes. Their descriptions are useful pointers, not confirmation that every route or event is currently available in every game session.

The community reference separates standard, event, limited event, washing, Time Capsule, limited passive, and museum mutations. Pro Game Guides also discusses weather events, washing, and the Time Capsule. These categories are not a verified official taxonomy, and the reference marks some values or chances as unknown.

There is no reliable definitive “all mutations” roster or stable multiplier table established by these sources. They disagree on the count and on some reported values, and they do not identify an official game version for those figures. Check current item details and in-game behavior before relying on a specific mutation count, chance, or multiplier.
