Then, if the problem continues, disable Quick Start+ and clear the TV’s connection history if those options are available. The exact menus vary by webOS version and model.
Why an LG TV can change inputs by itself
A connected set-top box, soundbar, game console or other HDMI device may tell the TV to switch inputs through SIMPLINK, LG’s name for HDMI-CEC. A device can send that signal even while it is in standby. LG also identifies temporarily incorrect saved connection information as a possible cause; neither explanation alone confirms what is happening on a particular TV.

SIMPLINK allows control between connected products, including power control. Turning it off is a useful way to test whether HDMI-CEC is triggering the switch, but it may also remove HDMI control features you use with external devices. See LG’s HDMI-CEC guidance.
Try these fixes in order
Where practical, make one change at a time and see whether the unwanted switching stops. That makes it easier to identify which setting matters.

1. Turn off SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC)
Open the HDMI settings and switch SIMPLINK off. LG lists these paths for newer TV generations:
- webOS 26 and later: Settings → All Settings → System → External Devices → HDMI Settings.
- webOS 6.0 and later, including the path LG lists for 2021-and-later TVs: Settings → All Settings → General → External Devices → HDMI Settings.
LG’s menu guidance is for standard models; labels and locations can vary. For the matching symptom, see LG’s input-switching instructions.

2. Turn off Quick Start+
Quick Start+ can leave the TV in standby rather than fully off. LG recommends disabling it to reduce incorrect input detection. The path depends on webOS generation; LG lists these examples:

- webOS 26: System → Additional Settings.
- webOS 23: General → System → Additional Settings.
- webOS 6: General → Devices → TV Management.
Look for Quick Start+ in the matching menu. Older versions may use other paths, so do not assume these locations apply to every model.

3. Delete connection history, if available
LG says clearing connection history resets saved device and network data and may help the TV recognize connected devices correctly. Its listed locations are:
- webOS 26 and later: System → External Devices.
- webOS 6 and later: General → External Devices.
Menu names and availability can vary by model. Use the TV’s matching options rather than looking for a setting that may not exist on your set.

If the TV still changes inputs
If the switching continues after these steps, contact LG through its chatbot or request a technician visit, as LG recommends. If you need exact menu instructions, have the TV’s model number or webOS version ready. LG’s separate guidance on a TV turning on by itself covers a related but different symptom; an input changing without a remote command is not necessarily the same issue.
