When Apex Legends crashes randomly on Windows 11, start with a PC restart and an EA service-status check, then repair the game files. If that does not help, update Windows and your graphics driver, isolate background software, and test frame-rate or V-Sync settings. The right fix depends on when the crash happens and any error shown; no single step is guaranteed to fix every cause.
Before changing settings, note how the crash happens
Record whether Apex closes to the desktop or freezes, the exact error text or code, and what you were doing when it happened. Note whether the problem began after a Windows or graphics-driver update, and whether other demanding games crash too. These details help distinguish a game-file issue from a broader driver, system, or software conflict.

Repair Apex Legends’ game files
Damaged or inconsistent installation files can be associated with Apex errors. In the EA app, open Library, find Apex Legends, select Manage, then choose Repair. EA’s error guidance connects Apex_crash.txt with crash troubleshooting and game-file repair; it also says r5apex.exe can indicate installation inconsistency and recommends repair and Windows updates.

If you launch the game through Steam, use Steam’s current game-file verification or repair feature; EA’s cited instructions specify the EA app steps, not a Steam menu path.

Install available Windows and graphics-driver updates
Install available Windows updates. For graphics drivers, follow the instructions from your GPU manufacturer rather than choosing a version based on a general crash guide. EA recommends checking the graphics card maker’s driver guidance and says a clean driver installation may be worth considering when troubleshooting graphics issues.
If the crashes began immediately after a driver change, note that timing and consult the manufacturer’s current rollback instructions. The cited EA pages do not identify one driver version as a universal fix for random Apex crashes.

Test whether background software is interfering
Close other running applications and try Apex again. If the crash continues, use a Windows clean boot as an isolation test: it starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so you can check whether background software is involved. Follow Microsoft’s current clean-boot instructions, then re-enable services and startup items methodically if the game works; this helps narrow down a conflict.

Try graphics and frame-pacing adjustments
If your PC is near the game’s minimum requirements, lower selected graphics settings and retest. You can also test a frame-rate cap or turn on V-Sync to match frame rate to display refresh. These are diagnostic options, not settings proven to be best for every PC; change one at a time so you can tell whether it affects the crash.
Use Easy Anti-Cheat fixes only for a matching error
Do not delete Anti-Cheat files or change its service for an ordinary crash with no related error. EA says an Anti-Cheat runtime-integrity check may involve a corrupted file and recommends repairing Apex. Its error-code 30005 instructions describe a separate Easy Anti-Cheat service-file step followed by a PC restart. If you see one of these matching errors, follow EA’s current Apex error-code instructions rather than applying those steps pre-emptively.

If Apex still crashes, collect details before escalating
If repairing files, updating, isolating background software, and any relevant error-specific steps have not helped, keep a concise record for EA support or its community channels. Include:
- The exact error text or code, or whether the game simply freezes or closes.
- When the crash occurs and what you were doing in-game.
- Recent Windows or graphics-driver changes.
- Your GPU model and installed driver version.
- Whether other demanding games crash too.
EA’s general PC guidance includes reinstalling Apex and the EA app as a later troubleshooting step. Consider that only after the earlier checks; it takes longer and does not establish that every random crash is caused by the installation.
