Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If ads suddenly appear on your Samsung Galaxy, the source may be a recently installed or updated third-party app—not One UI Home itself. First note whether the ad covers the unlocked Home screen, arrives as a notification, appears in a browser, or shows on the Lock screen while charging. That distinction points to the right fix.
Identify where and when the ad appears
Before changing settings, check the ad’s location and timing. Samsung lists third-party apps, Samsung Global Goals, and browser content as possible sources in different situations, so the same fix will not address every ad.

- Over the unlocked Home screen: Check recently installed or updated apps first.
- As a banner or notification: It may be a message sent by an app. Open the Notification panel to identify its source.
- Only in Chrome, Samsung Internet, or another browser: Check that browser’s pop-up and ad controls.
- On the Lock screen while charging: Check Samsung Global Goals’ charging-screen ad setting.
- After an app install or update: Treat that app as a lead to investigate, not proof of the cause.
Samsung says ads on a Galaxy Home screen, Lock screen, or within apps can be caused by third-party apps. An ad appearing over Home does not, by itself, establish that One UI Home is displaying it. Samsung’s Australia guidance addresses these locations.
Check apps installed or updated recently
If the ads began recently, review apps you have just downloaded or updated. Samsung’s US guidance suggests reviewing the most-used or recently updated apps in Google Play’s app-management screen. Its Australia guidance also suggests looking at recently updated or least-used apps and removing suspicious or recently installed apps one at a time. Samsung specifically flags flashlight, battery, and charging-optimization apps for scrutiny in its US guidance; that does not mean every app in those categories is harmful. See Samsung’s US troubleshooting steps.

- Open Google Play and go to the app-management area.
- Review recently updated, recently installed, or least-used apps, where those views are available.
- If one app is a plausible suspect, uninstall it and observe whether the ads stop. Removing apps one at a time makes it easier to identify a connection.
Use Safe mode to test for a third-party app
Safe mode prevents third-party apps from running, so it can help determine whether one of them is involved. If the ad does not appear in Safe mode, return to normal mode and investigate or uninstall recently added apps. Safe mode is a diagnostic step, not a permanent ad-blocking setting. The entry method varies by device, so use Samsung’s instructions for your particular Galaxy model rather than assuming one button sequence works for all phones. Samsung describes this approach in its Lock-screen ad troubleshooting guidance.
Turn off Global Goals charging ads on the Lock screen
Samsung Global Goals can show ads on the Lock screen when its charging ad feature is enabled. If the ads appear while the phone is charging, open the Samsung Global Goals app and look in its Settings for the charging-screen ad control. Samsung’s regional support pages use different labels, including “Charge screen ads” and “Global Goals whilst charging,” so the wording on your phone may differ. See Samsung UK’s instructions and Samsung Australia’s guidance.

Change browser settings only for browser-related ads
If the ad appears inside a browser or as a browser-triggered pop-up, check that browser’s controls. Samsung documents pop-up and redirect controls in Chrome, as well as pop-up blocking and ad-blocker options in Samsung Internet. These settings address browser behavior; they are not a universal fix for ads delivered by another app. Samsung’s regional directions are available for Australia and Saudi Arabia.
Review ad-personalization settings separately
Samsung’s regional troubleshooting pages describe privacy controls under Privacy > Customisation Service, including options such as “Customise this phone” and “Customised ads and direct marketing,” as well as an “Opt out of Ads Personalization” control. These settings relate to customization or ad personalization; they should not be expected to remove every ad. If an app or browser is the source, address that source directly. Labels and availability vary by device and region. Samsung Australia and Samsung Saudi Arabia outline regional options.

Why One UI Home is not automatically the culprit
Samsung describes One UI Home as a preinstalled component that provides navigation and lets you launch apps and widgets; its US support article says it cannot be removed. That does not mean every item seen on the Home screen comes from One UI Home: an app can display an overlay, and an app notification can appear as a banner. If the ad is a notification, check the Notification panel to identify the sending app. Samsung’s descriptions of One UI Home and notifications help distinguish those cases.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the menu labels may differ
Samsung cautions that screens and settings can vary with wireless provider, software version, and device model. Regional support pages also use different wording for the Global Goals charging option. If you need exact steps, have your Galaxy model, software version, and region ready, and describe whether the ad appears on Home, as a notification, in a browser, or on the charging Lock screen. Samsung’s device guidance notes that menus can vary.
