To host StoneBlock 1, use the matching modpack server archive—stoneblock_1.0.37-server.zip is the listed server pack for Minecraft 1.12.2—rather than a vanilla Minecraft server JAR. Extract it into a dedicated writable folder, run its supplied Forge installer or launch script, accept the EULA, configure memory in that script, and verify a local connection before opening the server to the internet.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
Every player must use Minecraft Java Edition 1.12.2 with the same StoneBlock release, Forge loader, mods, and relevant configuration. A vanilla client or a different StoneBlock generation will not reliably join.

What StoneBlock 1 is—and which files you need
StoneBlock 1 is the original StoneBlock release built for Minecraft 1.12.2. Its CurseForge file listing identifies stoneblock_1.0.37-server.zip as the server pack, released on July 28, 2020. That archive is the correct starting point for a dedicated server using that release line.
Do not build the server by downloading a vanilla minecraft_server.1.12.2.jar and copying mods into it. A modpack server depends on Forge libraries, launch arguments, configuration files, and a specific mod set. The supplied server scripts are intended to keep those pieces aligned.

Basic requirements
- A computer or rented server with write access to a dedicated folder.
- The matching StoneBlock 1 server archive and a client profile on the same release line.
- Java suitable for this 1.12.2-era pack. A StoneBlock hosting reference specifies Java 8; check the pack’s own launcher files before changing the Java executable.
- Network access: a local network for LAN play, or router forwarding or a tunnel for players outside the home.
- Enough free memory for the operating system, Java, and the modpack. No authoritative StoneBlock-specific minimum or player-count figure is established, so treat heap size as a configuration choice and test it on the target machine.
1. Download the exact StoneBlock 1 server pack
- Open the StoneBlock files on CurseForge and select the server-pack download that matches the client release. For the documented release, the filename is
stoneblock_1.0.37-server.zip. - Keep the server archive and the client profile on the same StoneBlock release line. Do not mix files from StoneBlock 2, StoneBlock 3, or an unrelated 1.12.2 pack.
- Save the archive somewhere you can restore later. Keeping an untouched copy makes it possible to recover if a configuration edit or failed update damages the working folder.
The server pack is not interchangeable with the ordinary client download. If the download page offers several files, choose the one explicitly identified as the server pack, not a client-only archive or a different Minecraft version.
2. Create a clean server directory
Use a short, dedicated directory such as a folder created specifically for StoneBlock. Avoid protected locations that require administrator permission and avoid placing the server inside the client installation. The server must be able to create libraries, configuration files, logs, the world folder, and eula.txt.
- Create the folder and give your user account read/write permission.
- Extract the complete server archive into that folder. Preserve its directory structure; do not drag only the mods folder into a new vanilla server directory.
- Keep the folder path simple. Short paths reduce problems with Windows command-line length and unusual characters.
- Do not delete bundled scripts, Forge libraries, configuration files, or installer files. They are part of the pack’s expected launch process.
Feed The Beast’s official server guidance describes the same general modpack workflow: put the downloaded installer in the target directory, let it generate the server files, and then use the generated launcher, commonly run.bat on Windows. The exact filenames in StoneBlock’s archive take precedence over a generic example.
3. Run the supplied installer or launcher
Start the installer or launch script included with the StoneBlock server pack. This is the step that installs or locates the Forge libraries and applies the pack’s launch arguments. On Windows, double-clicking the supplied batch file is usually sufficient; from a terminal, run the same file from inside the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly.
- Close other Minecraft server processes before running the installer.
- Launch the file supplied by the archive rather than a vanilla server JAR.
- Allow the process to finish creating libraries and configuration files. If it stops with a missing-library, Forge, or Java error, do not work around the message by downloading random files; restore the original server-pack contents and verify Java first.
- After generation completes, use the pack’s generated start script for normal launches. Do not replace its command with a bare
java -jar minecraft_server.1.12.2.jarcommand.
Why the vanilla JAR produces the wrong server
A vanilla launch can create a world and appear healthy while loading none of StoneBlock’s mods. Players then see missing-mod errors, an ordinary overworld, or an incompatible login. The server console may also lack the Forge startup messages expected by the pack. If that happens, stop the process, remove the incorrect launch path, and start again with the script supplied in the server archive.

4. Accept the EULA and configure memory
The first launch normally stops after creating eula.txt. Open that file, read Mojang’s EULA, and change eula=false to eula=true only if you agree to its terms. Save the file and start the supplied launcher again.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Set Java heap limits in the launch script or its JVM argument configuration, not in server.properties. Leave operating-system headroom for Windows or Linux, the Java process, file caching, and any other services on the machine. Increasing the heap indefinitely is not a fix for a slow disk, a broken mod, or an incorrect Java version.
Choosing a practical heap allocation
No source establishes a universal StoneBlock 1 RAM minimum, maximum, or player-count limit. Begin with a conservative allocation appropriate to the machine, observe the console and operating-system memory use, and adjust in small steps. If the process is terminated by the operating system, the machine swaps heavily, or other applications become unstable, reduce the allocation or move the server to a machine with more memory. If the server reports Java heap exhaustion while the host still has substantial free memory, increase the configured heap gradually.
Keep a note of the working JVM settings. When troubleshooting, change one variable at a time so you can identify whether Java, memory, a mod, or the network caused the failure.
5. Start the server and verify it locally
- Run the generated StoneBlock launcher and leave its console window open.
- Wait for the console to indicate that the world has finished loading and the server is ready for connections. The available documentation does not establish a guaranteed startup time.
- On the same computer, open Minecraft Java Edition 1.12.2 with the matching StoneBlock client profile and connect to
localhost. - Once local play works, test from a second device on the same home network using the host computer’s private IPv4 address, such as the address shown by your operating system’s network settings.
- Join, move around, and save a small amount of progress before inviting remote players. This confirms that the server is loading the modpack rather than merely opening a port.
If the console reports a missing library, an invalid Java executable, or a Forge error, stop the server and return to the exact server-pack files. Network troubleshooting cannot repair an incomplete or incorrectly launched installation.

6. Let friends connect over a home network or the internet
LAN play
Players on the same router should connect to the host’s private IPv4 address, not the public address shown by an internet speed-test site. Reserve or otherwise keep that local address stable so a router rule does not point to the wrong computer after a reboot. The host can continue using localhost.
Internet play with port forwarding
For friends outside the home, create a router port-forwarding rule from the chosen external port to the server computer’s fixed private address and the same internal port. The conventional Minecraft port is 25565, but the authoritative value is the server-port setting in server.properties. If you change that value, the router rule and the address shared with players must use the new port.
- Give the server computer a stable local address through a DHCP reservation or a manually configured address.
- Check
server.propertiesand record the configured port. Leave the server address field blank unless you have a specific reason to bind it to one interface. - Forward the port using the router’s TCP/UDP or Minecraft preset, depending on the router’s terminology.
- Allow Java or the server process through the host operating system’s firewall for the selected network profile.
- Have a friend outside your home network test the public address and port. Testing only from inside the same network can give misleading results because some routers do not support loopback.
Your internet provider may use carrier-grade NAT, which prevents inbound forwarding even when the router appears correctly configured. In that case, a tunneling service can provide an alternative path, but it adds another application, account, and possible latency or availability dependency.
Connection details at a glance
| Player location | Address to use | What must be configured |
|---|---|---|
| Host computer | localhost |
Server running locally |
| Same home network | Host’s private IPv4 address | Local firewall permission; stable host address recommended |
| Outside the home | Public address plus configured port | Router forwarding, firewall rule, and matching server-port |
| Network that blocks inbound connections | Tunnel-provided address | Running tunnel client and any service-specific access controls |
7. Match every client to the server
StoneBlock login is not a compatibility negotiation. The client and server need the same core versions and, in practice, the same pack files.
Recommended Free Tools
- Minecraft: Java Edition 1.12.2.
- StoneBlock: the same release or server-pack line, such as the release associated with
stoneblock_1.0.37-server.zip. - Forge: the matching loader build used by the pack.
- Mods: the same mod list and versions, unless a file is explicitly documented as client-only.
- Configuration: matching server-relevant and shared configuration files.
- Client-side files: any resource packs or other files required by the pack’s launcher.
- Network target: the administrator’s current address and port.
Start with the client profile that corresponds to the server archive. Do not solve a disconnect by adding random mods or downloading a newer Forge build; that can create a second mismatch and make the original cause harder to see.

Troubleshooting by symptom
The server starts as vanilla Minecraft
Stop it and inspect the launch method. A server started with minecraft_server.1.12.2.jar is not the StoneBlock server. Use the Forge/modpack script supplied by the server archive, verify that its libraries and mods are present, and start from the dedicated server directory.
Java is not found, or the process crashes immediately
Verify which Java executable the supplied script calls and compare it with the version expected by the pack. The hosting reference for this 1.12.2 StoneBlock generation specifies Java 8. Do not assume that the newest installed Java is compatible. If several Java versions are installed, point the launcher explicitly to the supported one, then test again with the original pack files.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The console stops at a Forge or missing-library error
Confirm that the archive was fully extracted, the installer was allowed to finish, and the launcher is being run from the correct directory. Restore a clean copy if files were deleted or overwritten. Avoid copying libraries from another modpack or manually replacing individual mods unless the pack documentation specifically requires it.
LAN works, but internet players cannot connect
- Confirm that the remote player is using your public address, not your private 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16–31.x.x address.
- Check that the server computer’s local address has not changed.
- Compare the router’s forwarded port with
server.properties. - Check the operating-system firewall and any security software blocking Java.
- Verify that the router’s WAN address is genuinely public. Carrier-grade NAT or a double-router setup can prevent inbound traffic.
- If forwarding is impossible, consider a tunnel and follow its security and access-control instructions.
The client disconnects during login
Compare Minecraft 1.12.2, Forge, the StoneBlock release, mod filenames and versions, and shared configuration files on both sides. A different Forge build or a client copied from another StoneBlock generation is a version mismatch even if both launch successfully. Read the client and server logs for the first mismatched mod or registry entry, then correct the profile instead of repeatedly reconnecting.
The world or mods appear corrupted
Stop the server cleanly, preserve the current logs, and restore a known-good server-pack or world backup. Keep periodic backups before changing mods or configurations; choose the interval according to how often the world is played and how much storage is available. The available documentation does not prescribe a StoneBlock-specific schedule. Never test an uncertain mod change on the only copy of an established world.

Self-hosting versus managed hosting
A home server gives you direct control over files and networking but makes you responsible for Java, uptime, backups, firewall rules, and router configuration. A managed host can simplify those tasks, but StoneBlock 1 support must be confirmed rather than assumed. Current one-click hosting documentation describes supported versions above 1.20.1; it does not establish one-click support for this 1.12.2 pack.
| Decision point | Self-hosted machine | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| StoneBlock 1 / Minecraft 1.12.2 support | Under your control | Provider must explicitly confirm it |
| Forge and custom server-pack upload | Full control of the supplied archive | Confirm custom upload or installation is permitted |
| Memory and CPU | Limited by your hardware and other processes | Check the allocated resources and overselling policy |
| Backups and file access | You create and store them | Check backup frequency, retention, restore process, and file access |
| Player capacity | Test on your hardware; no universal StoneBlock figure is established | Depends on allocated resources and provider limits |
| Latency | Depends on your home upload connection and location | Depends on the data-center region and players’ distance |
| Network setup | Router forwarding or tunneling may be required | Usually supplied by the provider, subject to its terms |
Before paying for a managed server, ask specifically whether it accepts the StoneBlock 1 server archive, runs Forge for Minecraft 1.12.2, allows custom modpack files, provides console and file access, and supports world backups and restoration. Do not infer compatibility from a provider’s support for newer one-click packs.
Maintenance checklist
- Keep an untouched copy of the original server archive.
- Back up the world while the server is stopped or through a provider’s consistent snapshot feature.
- Record the working Java path and JVM arguments.
- Document the configured port and the server computer’s local address.
- Apply mod or configuration changes only after making a restorable backup.
- Have every player update from the same verified client profile.
- Review logs after crashes and preserve the first error, not only the final shutdown message.
- Do not upgrade Minecraft, Forge, or the StoneBlock release on a live world unless you have verified compatibility and a separate backup.
Frequently encountered configuration questions
Can I use a vanilla Minecraft server for StoneBlock 1?
No. Use the Forge-based launcher and files supplied by the StoneBlock server pack.
Does StoneBlock 1 require Java 8?
The cited StoneBlock hosting reference specifies Java 8 for this 1.12.2-era pack. Confirm the executable expected by the pack’s own launcher before changing your installation.
What port should I forward?
Use the value in server.properties. 25565 is the conventional default referenced by hosting guidance, but a custom port is valid when the router rule and player addresses use the same value.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhy can I join locally but my friends cannot?
Local success proves that the server and client work on the host. Remote failure usually points to the wrong address, a changed private IP, firewall filtering, a mismatched port-forward rule, double NAT, or carrier-grade NAT.
Why does current one-click hosting documentation not list StoneBlock 1?
That documentation states support for versions above 1.20.1. StoneBlock 1 targets 1.12.2, so a provider must separately confirm support for this older Forge pack and its custom server files.
