Can I play Steam games on a Quest 3?
Yes. Valve lists Quest 3 as a supported Steam Link headset. Steam Link streams games from a PC running Steam to the headset; the PC still does the game processing. Quest 3 can also connect to PC VR through Meta Quest Link by cable or Air Link wirelessly. These are separate routes, so choose based on your network, preference for a cable and the game or app you plan to use. Valve recommends Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E for the listed Steam Link headset use.

Is Steam Frame worth it over Quest 3?
It can be, if the value for you is a more direct Steam-centered wireless PC workflow and you also want standalone play. It is a much more expensive option in PC Gamer’s September 2026 U.S. price comparison, and the available evidence does not establish a clear visual leap over Quest 3. PC Gamer’s reviewer described image quality as closely matched to Quest 3, making the case for Steam Frame more about workflow and comfort than an obvious display upgrade. That is one reviewer’s hands-on impression, not a universal measurement.
Quest 3 has a clear advantage if color passthrough and mixed-reality use are priorities: Meta specifies color stereoscopic passthrough and a depth sensor, while PC Gamer’s comparison lists Steam Frame passthrough as mono. If you mainly want PC VR and already have a suitable setup, Quest 3 can still reach Steam games through Steam Link or Meta’s PC connection options.

Can Steam Frame work without a PC?
Yes. Valve characterizes it as a standalone headset that also supports standalone VR and non-VR experiences. The Steam Store says its 16 GB of RAM supports a growing number of standalone VR and non-VR games. That does not mean every game in your Steam library runs locally: Steam Frame’s primary stated use is streaming the Steam library from a PC, so check whether the specific experience you want has standalone support.
What do the display and battery figures tell you?
Steam Frame’s cited per-eye resolution is 2160 × 2160, compared with Quest 3’s 2064 × 2208 and Quest 3S’s 1832 × 1920. Those figures alone do not settle perceived image quality; panel characteristics, lenses, software and the content being played also matter. Battery results are particularly dependent on how the headset is used.
