How long does the Steam Frame headset battery last?
Valve’s Steam Frame specifications do not state an official hours-per-charge figure for the headset. A 21.6 Wh capacity describes stored energy, not how many hours the headset will run; actual time depends on workload and power settings.

PC Gamer reports Valve’s estimate of around two hours while streaming, with runtime dependent on the game and power setting. Treat that as an attributed estimate, not a guaranteed result or a figure for standalone play. What charger does Steam Frame need?
The headset has a rear USB-C 2.0 port. Valve lists charging input at 15 V, 3.0 A, up to 45 W. For initial setup, Valve’s Steamworks setup guide says the adapter should provide at least 27 W and recommends 45 W. Check the charger’s USB-C output rather than relying only on its headline wattage; the available specifications do not establish that every adapter rated at a given wattage will behave identically.

Can you play while charging?
A USB-C power bank may extend a session, but the sources do not establish a universal play-and-charge result or an official compatibility list. PC Gamer has reported Valve statements describing power-bank use. Whether a bank can sustain the headset during play depends on its output, the headset’s state and the game workload. Check its USB-C power-delivery output against the intended use.
PC Gamer also reported a software update that improved charging while the headset is off or sleeping. That makes charging behavior software-dependent; the sources do not establish a fixed time to full charge.

How long do the controllers last?
Valve says each Steam Frame controller uses one replaceable AA battery and offers about 40 hours of play time. That approximate figure is for each controller, not the headset. Keep spare AA batteries on hand if you expect extended use.
What power-saving tips are supported?
The available Valve material does not provide a headset power-saving checklist or measured gains for particular display or game settings. It would be misleading to promise that changing a specific setting adds a particular amount of play time.

For a practical estimate of your own use, note the game, play mode and power settings, then compare runtime across sessions while keeping those conditions consistent. Check the current in-headset power settings, but treat any observed improvement as specific to your setup rather than a universal Steam Frame result.
