Choose a Windows gaming laptop only after checking that its exact configuration meets the game’s published minimum PC requirements. Minecraft Dungeons II launched September 29, 2026, and Mojang said on October 1 that it should now be playable on Steam Deck—but did not say it had received full Steam Deck verification.
What is the compatibility status on Steam Deck?
Mojang’s October 1, 2026 update says, “The game should now be playable on Steam Deck.” It also warns that issues may occur, including missing on-screen keyboard functionality, and says further improvements are planned to bring full Steam Deck verification. That is a dated compatibility update, not confirmation that verification is complete or a guarantee that every feature works as expected. Read Mojang’s update.

| Component | Published minimum |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit, version 1703 or newer |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G equivalent |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 560 equivalent dedicated graphics card, with at least 2 GB VRAM |
| DirectX | DirectX 11 |
Before choosing a laptop, check its exact CPU, installed RAM, and graphics hardware—not just the product family or a “gaming” label. The graphics requirement specifically calls for dedicated graphics with at least 2 GB of VRAM; it does not establish that a laptop with integrated graphics will run the game. Meeting a minimum also does not tell you what resolution, frame rate, or battery life to expect.
How do the two options fit different play styles?
| Decision factor | Steam Deck | Windows gaming laptop |

| Input and setup | Built-in handheld controls; the on-screen keyboard may be missing, according to Mojang’s caveat. | Windows PC setup with the laptop’s input options and potential external peripherals. |

Will co-op affect your choice?
Minecraft Dungeons II is described in its official FAQ as an action-RPG with couch co-op, online cross-play, and mixed co-op. Steam also lists split-screen co-op and Remote Play Together. Consider who you expect to play with and where you will be: a handheld and a laptop are different physical setups, but the available source information does not establish that one is better for co-op. Read the official FAQ and Steam’s feature listing.

Which should you choose?
- Lean toward Steam Deck if handheld portability is the deciding factor and you are comfortable with Mojang’s documented caveat as of October 1, 2026.
- Lean toward a Windows gaming laptop if you want a conventional Windows PC option, but verify that the specific model meets Steam’s listed minimum CPU, RAM, dedicated graphics, VRAM, operating-system, and DirectX requirements.
- Do not decide on performance claims alone: the available official information does not provide comparable tests for frame rate, resolution, or battery life on named devices.
The game is also available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to Steam and Windows. Xbox describes it as handheld optimized for supported handhelds and lists Windows 10/11 and Game Pass access; that broad label does not replace Mojang’s game-specific Steam Deck caveat. See Xbox’s game listing.
