Electronic Arts says, “While skate. will be Steam Native, Steam Deck will not be supported.” That applies to both OLED and LCD; Valve’s hardware specifications do not establish that skate. will launch or run correctly on SteamOS. The OLED has a larger, faster-refreshing screen and a larger battery on paper, but there are no official skate.-specific Deck performance, battery-life or control tests to compare.
Is skate. supported on Steam Deck OLED or LCD?
No. EA’s skate. Early Access PC Specs & Requirements, published September 12, 2025, states: “While skate. will be Steam Native, Steam Deck will not be supported.” EA also says, “MacOS, Linux are not supported.” “Steam Native” therefore should not be read as a promise of Steam Deck compatibility.

The Steam listing specifies Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12, while EA explicitly excludes Steam Deck. The available official information does not establish whether the game launches on either model, how it performs, or whether a particular workaround works. Because EA’s statement covers Steam Deck as a platform, the OLED’s newer hardware revision does not change the support status.

Does the OLED run skate. better than the LCD?
There is no official OLED-versus-LCD performance result for skate. Neither EA nor Steam publishes a Deck test with frame rates, graphics settings, stability or confirmed launch behavior. It would be speculation to say the OLED runs the game better, or that either model provides playable performance.

The OLED’s panel supports refresh rates up to 90 Hz, compared with 60 Hz on the LCD. That is a display capability, not evidence that skate. reaches either refresh rate on Deck. Likewise, the OLED’s revised APU process and faster listed memory are not a substitute for a game-specific test.
How long does skate. last on Steam Deck battery?
Valve lists a 40 Wh battery and a general gameplay estimate of 2–8 hours for the LCD, and a 50 Wh battery with a 3–12-hour estimate for the OLED. These are broad manufacturer ranges, not controlled skate. tests. No cited source provides a skate.-specific runtime for either Deck, so those figures cannot predict how long this game would run on a charge.
Do Steam Deck controls work with skate.?
Valve lists similar integrated controls on both models: standard gamepad inputs, two analog sticks, trackpads, gyro and four assignable grip buttons. The specifications do not document a skate.-specific Steam Deck control layout or confirm that the game recognizes those inputs.
EA says keyboard and mouse are not supported in PC Early Access and that players need a controller. Its supported PC controller list includes PS4 DualShock, PS5 DualSense, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S controllers, as well as DualSense Edge and Xbox Elite V1/V2. That controller requirement is for supported PC play; connecting a controller to a Deck does not override EA’s Steam Deck exclusion.

What the Steam listing requires
The skate. Steam listing describes the game as Early Access and requires persistent internet, a Steam account and an EA account linked to Steam. Its PC requirements name 64-bit Windows 10, DirectX 12 and broadband. Those requirements and the online account setup do not make either Steam Deck model an officially supported device.
Which Steam Deck should you choose for skate.?
If your main reason for choosing a Deck is to play skate., neither OLED nor LCD is an officially supported choice. The OLED does have the stronger screen specifications and larger battery capacity as a device, but those advantages do not supply the missing game support or any verified skate. performance, runtime or control behavior. For supported PC play, follow EA’s platform and controller requirements rather than treating a Deck specification as proof of compatibility.
