You can install community mods for Star Wars: Zero Company using a mod manager or manual file placement, but there is no official mod support. Start with the instructions on the specific mod’s page: some use packaged files, some require UE4SS, and others change configuration settings. The right steps also depend on your game store and executable build.
Before installing: know what kind of mod you have
EA’s FAQ says, “We have a lot of respect for the modding community, but there is no official mod support planned for Star Wars Zero Company.” That means community tools and modifications are unofficial; do not expect an in-game mod browser or Steam Workshop support. Check the mod’s own page for its requirements and install method before downloading or moving files.

A mod may combine approaches. Do not assume that every archive belongs in the same folder or that every mod needs UE4SS. Check the mod’s page and installation notes before proceeding.

Choose an installation method

The dedicated manager’s listing describes Windows 10/11 portable builds and a Linux/Steam Deck AppImage. Those are community-maintained tool claims, not guarantees of compatibility with every game build or mod. Review the current release and instructions at the dedicated manager listing. Install a UE4SS-dependent mod
Install the loader first, then follow the individual mod’s placement instructions. The current compatibility package specifies this location:

This is the folder containing SWZeroCompany.exe. Do not install the package in EngineBinariesWin64.

- Close the game.
- Open the current UE4SS compatibility package page and confirm that your executable build is within its tested scope.
- In the game’s
SWZeroCompanyBinariesWin64folder, back up any existingdwmapi.dlland the entireue4ssdirectory somewhere outside the game folder. - Extract the complete UE4SS archive into
SWZeroCompanyBinariesWin64, besideSWZeroCompany.exe. Replace files when prompted, as the package instructions specify. - Install the mod itself according to its page. Its files may have a separate destination or additional requirements.
These loader steps come from a community package, not EA. Recheck the package instructions because loader compatibility can change when the game executable is updated.

Check whether your game build is covered
The UE4SS listing identifies package version 1.1.1 as tested with Steam build 25134257 and executable version 196985. It says one full ZIP covers the tested Steam and EA App versions. The listing does not verify Epic or other executable builds.
The same listing includes Linux/Proton launch-option advice but says the package itself has not been validated on Linux/Proton. Treat that route as unverified community guidance, not a supported installation path. If a game update changes the executable, the loader may no longer match it. Recheck the listing’s current tested scope rather than treating an unknown executable hash as proof that your game files are corrupt.

Test changes one at a time
If the game fails to launch or a mod does not work, isolate the change instead of reinstalling everything at once. The loader instructions recommend first testing with added third-party mods temporarily removed, then restoring them individually.

- Temporarily remove added third-party mods, leaving the loader in place if you are testing whether the loader itself works.
- Launch the game and check whether the problem persists.
- If it launches, close the game and restore one mod.
- Repeat, closing the game between changes, until you identify the mod or combination associated with the problem.
If you need to undo the loader installation, close the game and restore the backed-up dwmapi.dll and ue4ss directory as appropriate. Use the mod author’s instructions to remove any other files or configuration changes; do not delete files you cannot identify as mod-added.
