Ubisoft Toronto remains the remake’s named lead studio, and new project-related job listings reported on September 30, 2026, point to continued recruitment. They do not establish how far development has progressed or when the game will be released.
Is the Splinter Cell remake still in development?
The latest evidence is consistent with ongoing work, but the sources support different kinds of claims. Ubisoft Toronto’s official studio page says it is leading development of the remake, while Insider Gaming reported on September 30, 2026, that new related job listings had appeared. Ubisoft’s own jobs page also surfaces remake-associated roles. Hiring signals recruitment; it is not a schedule or a measure of the game’s completion.

Earlier context came in February 2026, when GamesRadar reported that Ubisoft confirmed the remake remained in development after Ubisoft Toronto announced a reduction of 40 roles. That reported confirmation predates the September hiring report, so it is useful context rather than the newest status statement.
What Ubisoft has confirmed about the project
Ubisoft announced the remake on December 15, 2021, naming Ubisoft Toronto as its lead studio and saying the game would be rebuilt from the ground up using the Snowdrop engine. The announcement highlighted dynamic lighting and shadows as signature elements to carry forward. Ubisoft Toronto’s current studio description characterizes the project as a Snowdrop rebuild with next-generation visuals and modernized stealth gameplay.

- Exciting new moves maximize Sam's lethal fighting skills -- spin out of the shadows and kill silently
- All-new moves and levels - fight in jungles, on rooftops, on top of(and under) a moving train
- Advanced AI makes it harder than ever to get past enemies - if you reveal yourself they'll get reinforcements and put on armor
- Weapons now have secondary functions that can be equipped on the fly - be amazed at the advantage you get from the red dot of the laser sight
These descriptions establish the project’s lead studio, engine and broad creative aims. They do not confirm additional gameplay details, platforms, or launch timing.
What the new job openings do—and do not—show
Insider Gaming’s September 30, 2026 report is evidence that new remake-related listings appeared. Ubisoft Toronto’s jobs page also includes remake-associated work, including a VFX Artist role. Job postings can show that a studio is recruiting for work connected with a project, but they cannot establish a completion percentage, development stage, release date or launch window. Ubisoft says its career openings are published on the Ubisoft Careers page and are frequently updated.

What remains unknown
The cited sources do not give a release date, launch window, project budget, team size or completion percentage. They also do not establish platforms or mechanics beyond Ubisoft’s broad descriptions. Until Ubisoft publishes those details, the job openings should be read as evidence of recruitment—not as a hint that release is imminent.
