To get a Splendent Ruby for the Essence Extraction Specialty Skill upgrade in AION 2, first unlock the quest at Essence Extraction Mastery 50, then gather Ruby nodes in your faction’s regions. Elyos turn the item in to Korius in Verteron; Asmodians turn it in to Alzirr in Altgard. The exact best gathering spot is not confirmed, so use the suggested areas below as places to search rather than guaranteed spawn coordinates.
What you need before searching
- Requirement: Essence Extraction Mastery 50.
- Quest objective: Gather one Splendent Ruby.
- Elyos turn-in: Korius in Verteron.
- Asmodian turn-in: Alzirr in Altgard.
The quest records show quest level 10 and recommended character level 45 as separate fields; neither replaces the Mastery 50 requirement. Both faction quests list Essence Extraction Upgrade: Professional as a guaranteed reward. According to VGC’s October 5, 2026 guide, Splendent Ruby nodes only start spawning after you unlock the upgrade quest. If you cannot find the item, check that the quest is unlocked before changing farming areas.

The Elyos quest record lists four regions where Ruby can be found:

- Ellun River Midstream
- Verteron Fortress Ruins
- Destroyed Abyss Gate
- Kraka Footpath
For a more focused search, VGC suggests Verteron Fortress Ruins west of Zumion Village. Destructoid’s guide, published October 2 and updated October 4, 2026, points to the area south of Garden of the Illusion God Observatory. These are different suggestions, not verified coordinates; choose a listed region that is convenient to reach and search its Ruby veins.
Where Asmodians can gather Splendent Ruby
The Asmodian quest record lists these Ruby regions:

- Calderon Canyon
- Tranein Highland
- Silent Hill
- Nameless Cemetery
Within those areas, VGC recommends checking cliffs and rocks just north of Quai Campsite. Destructoid instead suggests cliffs in the western and southern portions of Calderon Canyon. Start with a region from the quest record, then use either cliff suggestion as a search area—not as a guaranteed spawn location.

- Open the Essence Extraction skill menu and turn on gem markers, if available. VGC says the markers make Ruby nodes easier to spot on the minimap.
- Travel to a Ruby region listed for your faction and search for Ruby veins.
- Gather nodes until you obtain the single Splendent Ruby required by the quest. Destructoid describes it as a rare drop from Ruby veins.
- Return to the quest NPC for your faction: Korius in Verteron for Elyos or Alzirr in Altgard for Asmodians.
Neither guide provides a verified drop rate or a guaranteed node coordinate, so the number of attempts and time required can vary. VGC also reports that Splendent Ruby is account-bound.

Which area should you try first?
Use your faction’s quest-record regions as the reliable starting list. For Elyos, the suggested sub-areas differ between guides, so pick the one that is easier to reach. For Asmodians, the guide suggestions both focus on cliffs, with one narrowing the search to Calderon Canyon. None of these sources establishes a single confirmed fastest route.
