To manage devices on Spectrum WiFi, first confirm that your router supports Spectrum Advanced WiFi, then use the My Spectrum App to view connected devices and, where available, pause or resume access. If you need to stop an unwanted device from reconnecting, changing your WiFi name or password is a different—and broader—step: every device that should stay connected will need the new credentials.
Check your router before looking for device controls
Spectrum’s device-management instructions apply to supported Spectrum Advanced WiFi routers, not automatically to every router used with Spectrum service. Find the model on the router label and check for the Advanced WiFi indicator described in Spectrum’s WiFi 6 Router User Guide; the guide says a QR code on the label indicates Advanced WiFi support. If your router or account does not meet the requirements, the app may not show the same controls.

Spectrum’s guides describe distinct WiFi 6, WiFi 6E, and WiFi 6E MDU products. The WiFi 6E guide identifies SAX2V1S and SAX2V1R models under the SAX2V1X family designation. The MDU router is a separate model for multi-dwelling-unit settings; do not assume its setup or interface matches the consumer router. The product guides are versioned documents, and app wording can change, so use the destination—your network’s connected-device list—rather than relying on a particular button name.
Find and review connected devices in My Spectrum
- Sign in: Open the My Spectrum App and authenticate with your Spectrum username and password, as described in the WiFi 6 Router User Guide.
- Open your network’s router or WiFi controls: Navigate to the connected-device list. Spectrum’s WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E guides describe viewing and managing devices and accessing device details.
- Check unfamiliar entries before acting: Device names may not make ownership obvious. Check household phones, computers, TVs, game consoles, printers, and smart-home equipment. Include devices connected by Ethernet as well as WiFi: Spectrum’s WiFi 6 guide covers both connection types, so the list is not necessarily limited to wireless clients.
There is no universal identification method documented for every device or router. A name you do not recognize is a reason to investigate, not proof that the device is unauthorized.

Pause or resume a device
On supported configurations, the My Spectrum App provides controls to pause or resume a device’s network access. Spectrum’s WiFi 6 guide documents individual-device controls. Its WiFi 6E Router User Guide and WiFi 6E MDU Router User Guide also document controls for a device or a group of devices.
Select the relevant device in the list and use the pause control if it is available; use resume to restore access. The cited guides do not establish a universal pause duration, schedule, or permanent-block feature. Do not assume a pause prevents the device from reconnecting indefinitely.

Choose the right response to an unwanted device
| Goal | Action | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Temporarily stop access using an available app control | Pause the device; resume it when access should return. | Documented for supported routers. Group controls are documented in the WiFi 6E and WiFi 6E MDU guides. |
| Make a device that knows the old credentials unable to reconnect with them | Change the WiFi network name, password, or both. | Spectrum support guidance says devices must use the updated credentials. Every legitimate device that needs network access must be reconnected. |
Spectrum Community’s archived thread, “How do I block a device from WiFi”, describes changing the network name and/or password for preventing reconnection. This is broader than pausing one entry: it affects all household devices using the old credentials. Spectrum’s WiFi name and password support page explains the credential-change step. Afterward, reconnect each device you want to keep online with the new network details.

| Router guide | Documented device controls | Other documented features |
|---|---|---|
| WiFi 6, version 13 | View and manage connected devices; pause or resume an individual device. | Change network name and password; supports wireless and Ethernet clients. The guide describes 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and WPA2 Personal. |
| WiFi 6E, version 12 | Manage devices; pause or resume an individual device or group. | Port forwarding, UPnP, DNS configuration, Spectrum Security Shield, and up to five WiFi Pods listed in the guide. Identified models include SAX2V1S and SAX2V1R. The guide describes concurrent 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz support and WPA3/WPA2 transition details; this does not mean every client uses 6 GHz. |
| WiFi 6E MDU, version 10, dated September 13, 2024 | Manage devices; pause or resume an individual device or group. | Port forwarding, UPnP, DNS and security features; adding or removing up to five WiFi Pods per router, as stated in this model-specific guide. |
These are guide-specific capabilities, not a single universal feature list for all Spectrum routers. The WiFi 6E MDU guide’s “up to five” figure applies to that model’s documented Pod setup; it does not establish compatibility or availability for other router generations.

If the list or controls are missing
- Recheck eligibility: Confirm the router model and whether it is a Spectrum Advanced WiFi model, then sign in to the Spectrum account associated with the service. Spectrum’s WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E guides tie these app controls to supported equipment.
- Contact Spectrum if the expected controls still do not appear: App access and available functions depend on eligible equipment and account access. Spectrum’s router guide is the relevant starting point for identifying supported hardware.
- Separate device management from a weak connection: If the issue is poor coverage rather than an unknown device, Spectrum’s WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E guides advise moving closer to the router, placing it centrally in an open, raised location, and restarting it. These steps address connectivity, not device identity.
Use advanced settings and reset controls cautiously
DNS, UPnP, port forwarding, IP reservation, and factory reset are separate from routine device pausing. Spectrum’s advanced settings support page says most people do not need to change advanced settings. Factory reset removes personalized settings, according to the router guides, so it is not a first response to one unfamiliar device.
Reset-button timing differs by model. Spectrum’s WiFi 6 guide distinguishes a 4–14-second reboot press from a press of 15 seconds or more for factory reset; the WiFi 6E guide describes different reset behavior and thresholds. Follow the exact manual for your router rather than applying timing from another generation.
