Is Angelian Trigger coming to PS5?
Yes. PiXEL Co., Ltd. announced on October 6, 2026 that Angelian Trigger is planned for PS5 in 2027. The announcement gives no more precise launch date. The same announcement schedules the Steam version for December 10, 2026, but that PC date does not establish when the PS5 version will arrive. The current Steam listing describes the PC game as “Coming soon.” That digital listing is not evidence of a physical PS5 edition. No physical PS5 release or Western publisher is confirmed in the cited sources.

Why might it interest Space Harrier fans?
Space Harrier is a useful comparison for the game’s pseudo-3D presentation: players run into the depth of the screen while firing at enemies. Push Square makes that visual comparison, but the available announcements do not identify Angelian Trigger as part of the Space Harrier series or as an officially connected game. Treat the similarity as a stylistic resemblance, not a franchise link. Push Square’s coverage discusses the comparison.

PiXEL describes the game as following a pseudo-3D style “of the past.” Beyond the visual approach, it has a larger stage-and-boss structure than the comparison alone might suggest: Story Mode and Arcade Mode each have 24 stages, with four stages on each planet and boss fights at stage ends. Arcade Mode also has its own boss, according to PiXEL’s announcement.
How do the characters and combat differ?
The two playable characters have distinct movement and weapons, so choosing one affects how a run feels:

Combat also includes a support robot, rear covering fire, force fields, and homing lasers that target multiple enemies. Defeating groups of enemies can earn bonus points. These are developer-described features, not independently verified performance or balance assessments. PiXEL’s October 6 announcement provides the gameplay details.

English support for PS5 has not been confirmed in the cited sources. The currently available Japanese Switch version is reported as Japanese-only, and Steam’s current store listing marks English as unsupported while listing Japanese audio and subtitles. Neither platform’s language information establishes what PiXEL will offer on PS5. Gematsu reports on the English description accompanying the Steam page, while Steam’s listing shows its current language information.

The Switch version launched in Japan on December 12, 2024, according to Gematsu; Push Square also reports that it is available there. That existing release does not confirm a Western launch or localization for PS5.

The main unknowns are the exact PS5 date, language options, regional availability, and whether a physical edition will be offered. PiXEL’s announcement establishes a planned 2027 PS5 release, but the cited sources do not settle those other details. For now, the safest way to track changes is to check for updates from PiXEL and the PlayStation store listing when one becomes available.
