To become an administrator on a Soulmask dedicated server, add an administrator password to the server launch command, join the server, open the console with ~ (or sometimes Numpad -), run gm key <password>, enter that password in the GM panel, and choose Become the Admin. Reopen the console and run commands with the gm prefix.

The command names exposed by Soulmask vary between server builds and references. The list below combines the commands documented for current dedicated-server administration, identifies capitalization alternatives, and separates in-game GM commands from Telnet/RCON commands. Back up a save before using anything that deletes players, tribes, NPCs, vegetation, or buildings.

What Soulmask admin commands do
Soulmask’s administrator console can change player progression, teleport characters, recruit or remove NPCs, alter time and invasion heat, manage tribes, and perform server operations such as saving data. The commands are executed by the server, so a successful response normally affects the shared world rather than only your local client.
There is no single guaranteed command count for every release. Prima Games described 28 commands in a June 3, 2024 list, but that was the size of that article’s list, not a promise that later builds expose exactly 28 commands. Community and binary-oriented references also show aliases, changed capitalization, and commands that are available only in particular builds. Treat the tables as a practical reference, not as a guarantee that every entry exists on your installation.

Become an administrator
1. Set an administrator password in the launch script
Stop the server and edit its launch script. On Windows, add -adminpsw=<password> at the end of StartServer.bat. A Linux dedicated-server installation uses the same flag in StartServer.sh. Replace the placeholder with the password you intend to enter in game, then start the server again so the launch argument is loaded.

2. Open the in-game console
Join the server with the character that should receive administrator access. Press the grave/tilde key, shown as ~ on many keyboards. Numpad - may also open the console. Keyboard layouts that do not produce a grave key can block this step even when the server is configured correctly.
If the default key does nothing, edit the game’s Input.ini and change the ConsoleKey setting. For example, a working remap is ConsoleKey=Insert. Use a key that is not already needed for movement or inventory, save the file, and then use that key to open the console.
3. Authenticate with the GM key command
At the console prompt, enter gm key <password>, replacing the placeholder with the exact value used in the launch script. If authentication succeeds, the GM panel opens. Enter the password again in the panel and select Become the Admin.

4. Run commands
Close or reopen the console after claiming administrator status. In-game administrative commands use the gm prefix, followed by the command name and any parameters. A command can still fail when you are authenticated if the spelling, capitalization, target, or parameter order does not match the server build.

The following tables preserve the capitalization and underscores shown in the documented references. Where two spellings are listed, try the spelling supported by your build; do not assume that aliases are interchangeable on every server.

Why a command may fail
The console will not open
- Try both the grave/tilde key and Numpad
-. - If your keyboard layout has no usable grave key, change
ConsoleKeyinInput.ini, for example toInsert. - Make sure you are connected to the dedicated server rather than sitting at a menu or another server.
gm key is rejected
- Confirm that the server was started with
-adminpsw=in the activeStartServer.batorStartServer.sh, then restart the server after editing the file. - Enter the same password character-for-character in the console and GM panel. The administrator password is not the RCON password.
- Check that you are using the in-game console, not a Telnet or RCON session; remote consoles use a different command set.
The server says an otherwise valid command is unknown
- Preserve capitalization and underscores. Common differences include
AddMJExpversusAddmjexp,KeJiShuversusUnLock_Techs,recruitversusZhaoMu, andshow_feverversusShowReDu. - Use the
gmprefix for in-game commands. A command copied from a remote-console list may not work in the GM panel. - Check whether the command requires a selected target, an index, coordinates, or a numeric value.
- Assume that unverified or community-only commands may have changed or may not be compiled into your server build.
The command runs but affects the wrong thing
- For target commands, select the NPC, player, tribe, or structure before executing.
- For coordinate and radius commands, obtain coordinates with
GPSand start with a small test area. - For index-based tribe commands, remember that the documented first entry is index 0.
- Restore a backup instead of trying to reverse an account deletion, tribe deletion, mass NPC removal, or building-destruction command.
Telnet and RCON administration
The binary-oriented technical reference distinguishes remote administration from the in-game gm command set. Remote access is not a complete replacement for the GM panel: it exposes a separate command vocabulary, and the documented remote list does not include every in-game command.

Telnet
Telnet uses the loopback EchoPort, which defaults to 18888. “Loopback” means the connection is intended for the server machine itself unless you deliberately change the network arrangement. Restrict access at the firewall and do not expose an unauthenticated administrative endpoint to the public internet.
RCON
Start the server with an RCON password and port, for example -rconpsw=<password> and -rconport=<port>. The documented default RCON port is 19000. The technical reference also specifies an IP whitelist in WS/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Engine.ini. Configure the whitelist for the management machines that actually need access, and use a password different from the in-game administrator password.

Do not prepend gm to these remote examples unless your particular remote interface explicitly requires it. They belong to the Telnet/RCON command set, not the in-game console syntax.

Self-hosting versus managed hosting
The commands themselves are determined by the installed Soulmask server build, but the administration experience depends on who controls the server files.

Safe operating procedure
- Stop the server or create a restorable save before testing an unfamiliar command.
- Record the server version, launch flags, and the character or target selected.
- Test progression, teleport, vegetation, NPC, and tribe commands on a private save first.
- Use the smallest practical numeric value or radius and verify the result before increasing it.
- Run
gm BaoCunonly after a change you intend to keep. - Keep the administrator and RCON passwords separate, and limit remote-console access with the documented IP whitelist.
- Never test account deletion, tribe deletion, mass NPC clearing, or building destruction on the only copy of a world.
What to expect from command coverage
Some entries above are native-literal names extracted from technical references, while others are community labels or inferred aliases. In particular, the community reference marks gm Go as community-only, notes that some parameter order is unverified, and warns that remote consoles do not expose the complete in-game command set. When a command is absent, try the documented capitalization alternative once, verify the required target or parameter, and then consult the command output for the exact build rather than repeatedly guessing.
