Sophos says its new CISO Advantage service uses agentic AI to assess an organization’s environment and threat profile, map existing controls to cybersecurity frameworks, and produce a prioritized remediation roadmap aligned with budget. The goal is to help businesses decide which security improvements to fund first and explain their business value—not simply to generate advice in a chatbot.
What Sophos CISO Advantage does
Sophos announced CISO Advantage on October 1, 2026, as a security-strategy offering delivered through Sophos Fusion. Sophos describes a workflow that evaluates an organization’s environment and threat profile, compares its controls with selected frameworks, and recommends what to address first, what it may cost, and why the work matters to the business. The company says its assessment draws on live threat intelligence and insights from organizations protected by Sophos.

The intended outcome is a prioritized, budget-aligned plan that connects security operations with organizational strategy and gives leaders a way to communicate and track progress. Sophos has not published the detailed assessment methodology or scoring model, independent validation, or measured customer outcomes. Which frameworks it maps to
Sophos names four frameworks for mapping an organization’s security controls:

Framework mapping can help leaders discuss gaps using recognized categories, but the announcement does not explain how assessments are scored, how the frameworks are applied to different organizations, or whether a completed assessment constitutes certification or independent compliance verification. It should not be read as a guarantee of compliance.
Who can run the program
Sophos positions CISO Advantage for organizations with a CISO seeking a more integrated way to manage and report risk, as well as businesses without a dedicated security leader. The launch announcement describes three delivery approaches:
- An organization’s internal team runs the program.
- A customer starts with an MSP partner and later transitions the work in-house.
- A partner provides the service as an ongoing managed offering.
This makes MSPs a central part of Sophos’s intended delivery model. Sophos’s July 2026 announcement describes Sophos Fusion as a broader platform combining Sophos products, third-party integrations, agentic AI, and human expertise. Availability, subscriptions, and price
Sophos’s October 1, 2026 announcement says CISO Advantage begins rolling out in October across North America, the UK, and the rest of Europe, with global availability expected by the end of 2026. It describes an annual term license or a monthly subscription through MSP Flex. These are launch-announcement plans, not confirmation that the service is purchasable in every region or account; check with Sophos or an authorized partner for current availability and terms.
The announcement does not state a price. Sophos says CISO Advantage Plus, intended for enterprise organizations and described as adding convergence, risk, and governance capabilities, is targeted for mid-2027. That is a target date, not a confirmed release date.

The product addresses a real planning challenge: organizations need to decide how to allocate limited security budgets and explain priorities to leadership. Sophos SVP of Product Management Rob Harrison framed the board-level question as: “We built it around the question every board is now asking its security team: are we safer than we were last quarter, and can you prove it?” Phil Harris, IDC research director for governance, risk and compliance solutions, offered market commentary in the same Sophos release: “What security leaders need now is a solution that helps them understand where they stand, take action, and clearly show how their security posture is improving.”

Sophos’s release also cites market figures, but they are company-reported estimates rather than independently verified measures. It says global information-security spending is expected to reach $240 billion in 2026; cites its 2026 CISO Report for an estimate of 35,000 CISOs serving 359 million businesses worldwide; and cites its 2026 MSP Perspectives Report for findings that 46% of customers look to an MSP to act as CISO and 84% of MSPs expect demand for CISO services to grow over the next year. These figures provide context for Sophos’s positioning; they do not demonstrate CISO Advantage’s effectiveness.

The announcement does not provide enough detail to answer those questions or to compare CISO Advantage fairly with named alternatives.
