Its compact fit, passive isolation and FPS-focused tuning may suit players who want to hear directional cues without wearing an over-ear headset. But it has no microphone, and its USB-C audio box is primarily useful for PC features—not a guarantee of USB audio support on PS5. It is a focused option, not an obvious all-purpose pair of earbuds.
What the INZONE E9 is—and who it suits
Sony describes the E9 as a wired in-ear monitor tuned for FPS play with feedback from Fnatic. The collaboration and tuning are Sony’s product-positioning claims, not a promise that every player will gain a competitive advantage. Sony’s product page emphasizes its enclosed housing, low-profile fit and passive isolation.

Independent reviews offer a more practical framing. TechRadar found the E9 more compelling for dedicated FPS use than general listening, praising directional presentation while noting a flat sound profile and the missing microphone as trade-offs. Tom’s Guide described its review unit as comfortable and well-isolating, while also identifying FPS play and Windows customization as the product’s focus. Those are the reviewers’ impressions, not measurements or guarantees.

Fit, isolation and what comes in the box
The E9’s isolation is passive: the enclosed design and a well-seated ear tip help reduce surrounding sound. Sony includes both hybrid silicone and noise-isolation tips in multiple sizes. Its Help Guide recommends trying different sizes; a secure seal affects both isolation and how the earbuds sound. Foam-style isolation tips can increase isolation, but comfort and seal depend on the individual ear.

Connections and PC software
The earbuds connect through a 3.5 mm plug. For PC features, connect the E9 to the supplied USB-C audio box, then plug the box directly into a computer USB port. Sony’s setup instructions advise against connecting it through a USB hub. In INZONE Hub on PC, users can select and customize equalizer settings, dynamic range control, profiles and spatial sound.

Do not assume the USB audio box will work with a PS5: Sony says that connection is not guaranteed. Its recommended PS5 connection is the controller’s headphone jack. The E9 itself has no built-in microphone, so voice chat requires a separate mic or another headset; Sony confirms this in its product FAQ.
How it compares with other gaming audio options

These are different trade-offs rather than interchangeable versions of the E9. A built-in mic matters if you chat often; wireless matters if you want to move freely; and ANC is a different approach from the E9’s passive in-ear seal. An open-back or over-ear design also changes the listening experience and how much outside sound reaches you.
Price, colors and availability
Prices and stock are regional and change over time. Sony’s US listing showed the white IER-G900W at $129.99, reduced from $149.99, on October 7, 2026; treat that as a dated store offer, not a stable price. Verdict
The INZONE E9 makes the most sense for a player who wants wired, compact earbuds for FPS games and is comfortable supplying a separate microphone. Its included tips and PC audio box support a more customizable setup, while the narrow gaming focus and lack of chat mic make it less convenient as a single everyday headset. If wireless use, a mic or broader versatility is a priority, choose a product designed around those needs instead.
