Sony INZONE Buds: What to Know About the Pros and Cons

The Sony INZONE Buds offer a gaming-focused 2.4 GHz transceiver, ANC and spatial audio, but phone support is conditional and Bluetooth Classic is not supported.

The Sony INZONE Buds WF-G700N make the most sense for gaming on a PC or PS5 using their included 2.4 GHz USB transceiver. Their main buying caveat is phone compatibility: they do not support Bluetooth Classic, and Sony says iPhone is not supported through the transceiver. Check your intended connection before buying.

What the INZONE Buds offer

A dedicated gaming connection

The included USB transceiver provides a 2.4 GHz wireless connection, separate from Bluetooth. Sony lists PC and PS5 modes on the INZONE Buds product page. This gives the earbuds a gaming-oriented connection option, but device compatibility still depends on the connection path you plan to use.

Noise control and ambient sound

Sony lists active noise cancelling (ANC) and ambient sound as features. Those specifications confirm that the modes are available; they do not establish how effective the ANC is in practice or how natural the ambient sound sounds. The official WF-G700N specifications also list IPX4-equivalent water resistance.

Gaming spatial audio, with a PC setup requirement

Sony lists 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming. To enable it, the product-page footnote says to use INZONE Hub on Windows. Sony’s support page displayed Windows 11 Home and Pro for the Hub version listed when accessed on October 7, 2026; software requirements and releases can change, so check the current support and downloads page for the version and requirements that apply to your setup. This documentation does not establish equivalent Hub configuration for consoles or phones.

Manufacturer-rated battery and quick charging

Sony rates USB-transceiver playback at up to 12 hours per charge with ANC off, or up to 11 hours with ANC on. With the charging case, Sony rates up to 24 hours of total playback with ANC off. These are maximum manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed runtimes; Sony notes that settings and use conditions affect results and that rechargeable battery capacity declines with age. Sony also specifies that a five-minute charge provides up to one hour of playback. See the official specifications for the stated conditions.

The main drawbacks to weigh

No Bluetooth Classic

The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.3 LE Audio using the LC3 codec, but Sony says Bluetooth Classic is not supported. That means ordinary SBC- or AAC-based Bluetooth compatibility should not be assumed. If you want to connect directly to a phone over Bluetooth, Sony says the phone must support LC3 / Bluetooth LE Audio. Having a compatible profile does not guarantee that every device will connect.

Phone support is conditional

Sony documents two phone connection paths, and both have limits:

  • Supplied USB transceiver: The phone needs USB Type-C support, and the transceiver switch must be set to PS5/MOBILE. Sony explicitly states, “iPhone is not supported,” and warns that compatibility with all USB-C devices is not guaranteed.
  • Direct Bluetooth: The phone must support LC3 / Bluetooth LE Audio; Bluetooth Classic support alone is not enough.

Check Sony’s compatibility guidance for smartphones and game consoles against your specific device before relying on either route.

Some important buying questions are unanswered by the specifications

The manufacturer information cited here does not provide independent comparative testing of comfort, microphone clarity, ANC effectiveness, or sound quality. Treat those as open questions rather than assuming that the feature list proves performance. If those qualities matter most, look for hands-on testing that covers your intended use and platform.

Who should consider them?

  • A plausible fit: A PC or PS5 player who wants the included 2.4 GHz transceiver, is comfortable with the documented setup, and values features such as ANC and ambient sound.
  • Check first: Someone who expects direct phone Bluetooth use, particularly if their phone’s support for LC3 / LE Audio is unclear, or who plans to use the transceiver with a USB-C phone. iPhone users should not expect the supplied transceiver to work with their phone.
  • Look for more evidence: Anyone choosing mainly on comfort, microphone quality, noise cancellation strength, or sound quality, since the cited manufacturer specifications do not establish comparative performance on those points.

Verdict

The INZONE Buds are a feature-rich gaming-earbud option built around a supplied 2.4 GHz transceiver, with ANC, ambient sound, and a Windows-dependent gaming spatial-audio feature. Their most consequential limitation is connectivity: they lack Bluetooth Classic, direct Bluetooth phone use requires LC3 / LE Audio, and Sony excludes iPhone from the transceiver phone path. They are easiest to recommend to a buyer whose gaming device and connection needs match Sony’s documented support—not to someone seeking universal Bluetooth earbuds.
