Solos AirGo 3 can translate conversations, but it is not a self-contained translator or augmented-reality headset. The camera-free, open-ear glasses use microphones and speakers while the Solos AirGo phone app and online AI handle translation, transcription and related features. Solos introduced AirGo 3 around CES 2023 and announced expanded translation modes on January 8, 2024, so this is an established product rather than a new 2026 debut. See Solos’ launch announcement at Solos’ AirGo 3 release and its CES 2024 translation announcement.
What AirGo 3 actually is
AirGo 3 is an audio-first smart-glasses platform. Bluetooth, microphones, open-ear speakers and touch or virtual controls are built into interchangeable frame-and-temple hardware intended to function like ordinary prescription-capable eyewear. Solos has offered Argon eyeglass frames, Xeon sunglasses and Helium sports styles in its AirGo 3 range.

The current Argon 6S listing identifies no camera, photo shooting or video recording, and no lens display. Translated words are therefore heard through the speakers or read on the phone; they do not appear as subtitles in the wearer’s field of view.
How language translation works
- Attach both temples, charge the glasses and hold the virtual button on the right temple for about two seconds. Solos’ instructions are at its setup page.
- Install the Solos AirGo app, create or sign in to an account, and pair the glasses with an iPhone or Android phone over Bluetooth.
- Give the app the permissions required for Bluetooth, microphone, notifications and any selected calendar, location or messaging features.
- Open translation, choose the source and target languages, then select the appropriate mode.
- Press and hold the frame control when prompted, or start the app’s live/instant function, and speak normally. The phone captures speech and sends it to the app’s online processing service.
- Listen to the result through the open-ear speakers. Where the selected mode supports it, view the transcription or translation as text in the app.
This is a phone-assisted, internet-dependent workflow. The frames provide the audio interface, but the phone remains important for pairing, language selection, permissions, network access, text display and some message actions.

Translation modes and their practical uses
| Mode | Best use | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 1-to-1 | Short face-to-face exchanges | Turn-based conversation with selected source and target languages. |
| Instant Translate | Ongoing speech | Live-oriented translation and transcription; timing and controls can vary by app version. |
| Listen | Understanding another speaker | Prioritizes hearing the translated speech rather than conducting both sides of a conversation. |
| Group | Multilingual conversations | Announced by Solos for CES 2024; current availability should be confirmed in the app. |
| Text | Quiet settings or written output | Uses the phone for text rather than relying only on spoken playback. |
| Present | Talks and presentations | Announced presentation-oriented translation for audiences; availability may depend on account and app version. |
The current App Store description specifically mentions 1-to-1 and Instant Translate, while Solos’ CES announcement describes broader group and presentation capabilities. Treat the latter as announced functions, not a promise that every mode is identical in every current build. The app listing is at Apple’s Solos AirGo page.
Languages: Solos claims 25, but check before buying
Solos advertises support for 25 languages on its app-entry page. The accessible public listing does not provide a complete, verified language matrix, so do not assume all 25 languages work in every direction or every mode. Source and target choices, voice versus text output, region, app version, recognition quality and account plan can affect what appears in the selector. Check the current selector before travel or purchase.
Hardware, battery and compatibility
| Specification | Published information for Argon 6S |
|---|---|
| Camera and display | No camera or video features listed; no display identified. |
| Wireless | Bluetooth 5.2 and Bluetooth Low Energy. |
| Phone support | Android and iOS. |
| Range | Approximately 33 feet in open space. |
| Battery estimates | About 10 hours of music playback, seven hours of phone calls, or two days of standby with a smartphone connected. |
| Quick charge | About three hours of operation after 15 minutes of charging. |
| Water resistance | IP67 claim on the Argon 6S product page. |
The 10-hour figure is a manufacturer music-streaming estimate, not a translation-runtime guarantee. Translation adds microphone use, Bluetooth traffic, phone activity and cloud processing, so mixed real-world endurance can be lower. Laptop Mag reported more than 10 hours in its own testing, but that is a review observation rather than a universal result.

Solos’ compatibility page cites iOS 11 or newer and Android 8.0 or newer, an old minimum-version statement. Check the current App Store or Google Play listing for your particular phone at Solos’ app page.
What the app does beyond translation
Solos positions the AirGo app as the control center for SolosChat and other AI functions. Depending on hardware, software and account, it advertises voice search and question answering, message dictation and reading, calendar reminders, fitness and posture tools, equalizer controls, conversation history and sharing. Solos describes these features as using OpenAI/ChatGPT capabilities, but the Argon 6S listing says personal ChatGPT-account login is not supported; this is app-mediated access, not a local ChatGPT installation in the frames. See Solos’ app overview and the current App Store listing.
Where the experience falls short
It is not offline or phone-free
Disconnect the phone, deny required permissions or lose data service and translation and AI functions may stop or become unreliable. “Hands-free” describes listening and speaking through the glasses, not eliminating the phone from setup and control.

Real-time does not mean simultaneous interpretation
Speech must be captured, processed and returned, so expect pauses. Laptop Mag found the tested feature was not a fully rolling, continuous translation. Short turns and clear speech are more realistic than professional simultaneous interpretation.

Noise and accents affect recognition
Crowds, traffic, wind, restaurants, overlapping speakers, distance and unfamiliar accents can cause mistranscription. Move closer, reduce background noise, speak one person at a time and repeat shorter phrases when necessary.
Open-ear audio can leak
You retain awareness of your surroundings, but people nearby may hear translated speech, messages or AI replies. Digital Trends found AirGo 3 less isolated and less refined for audio than Ray-Ban Meta’s speakers. Lower the volume or use headphones for sensitive content.

The Beast gives you both — cranked to eleven.
Privacy requires a policy check
Microphones capture speech and the app and AI services process it. Review Solos’ current privacy policy and any OpenAI-related disclosures before using the glasses for confidential conversations; open-ear output alone does not make translation private.
Subscription information is inconsistent
One Solos page lists a free Basic plan and Premium at $9.99 per month, while another displays $4.99 and $12.99 tiers and mentions a future Elite plan. Because the official pages conflict, verify the plan and post-trial price at checkout on the date you buy: app plans and app-entry plans.

| Glasses will not power on | Temples detached, low charge or short button press | Attach both temples, charge, then hold the right-temple button for about two seconds. |

Who should buy AirGo 3?
AirGo 3 is a sensible choice for travelers, multilingual households and prescription-glasses users who want occasional translation, calls, messages and AI responses through open-ear speakers while carrying a phone. Its modular, camera-free design is a meaningful advantage if you do not want a camera on your face.
Skip it if you require offline translation, subtitles in the lenses, zero-touch simultaneous interpretation, strong music isolation, reliable recognition in loud workplaces or a mature standalone wearable ecosystem. A phone app such as Google Translate or Apple Translate may be simpler for occasional use. Camera-equipped options such as Ray-Ban Meta target a different privacy and feature trade-off.
Bottom line
Solos AirGo 3 is best understood as camera-free Bluetooth audio glasses with cloud-assisted translation—not as universal translator glasses. They can make short conversations more convenient by routing translated speech to your ears, but the phone, internet connection, app controls, subscription terms and ordinary speech-recognition limits remain part of the experience.
