Spoilers for later shadow-army developments. Bellion is the strongest comparison on the available evidence: a fan-maintained roster gives him the higher Grand Marshal grade, while Igris and Tusk share Beru’s Marshal grade. Greed is a more conditional challenger, listed one grade below. That supports four useful comparisons—not a reliable canon ranking of five. “Rival” can mean equal formal grade, a tactical counter, or comparable overall strength, and those are different claims.
What counts as a rival to Beru?
A shadow’s formal grade is one way to compare soldiers, but it does not settle who would win a fight or who is more valuable in every battle. The fan-maintained shadow roster itself points to other factors, including Shadow Authority, intelligence, and level. Combat feats, versatility, battlefield role, and development over the story also matter.

The evidence here supports a cautious shortlist, not a definitive five-member ranking. The grades below come from a secondary fan reference rather than an authoritative ranking supplied by the licensed novel or comic; treat them as a guide to comparison, not proof of equal strength.

Bellion: the clearest candidate
Bellion is the most defensible choice if “rival Beru” means a soldier with a stronger formal designation. The roster lists him as Grand Marshal and Beru as Marshal. A separate fan-maintained Bellion page summarizes a sparring encounter in which Bellion ensnares Beru with his weapon.
That account supports Bellion as a compelling comparison, but it should not be stretched into a universal verdict. A spar is one encounter, and the summary is secondary rather than primary-text proof of how the two compare in every circumstance. Bellion’s grade is the clearer basis for the comparison; the sparring description is a lead for readers checking the original scene.

Igris: same listed grade, different comparison
Igris is listed as a Marshal, the same grade as Beru. That makes him a natural peer to compare, but it does not prove the two are equal in overall strength. Their fighting profiles and development differ, so the answer can depend on which point in the story and which version—novel or webtoon—a reader has in mind.
The available roster supports the grade comparison, not a definitive duel outcome. Avoid reading “same grade” as “same power” without specific evidence from the relevant scene or edition.

Tusk: a tactical rival in the right matchup
Tusk also appears as a Marshal on the fan roster. His magic and ranged utility make him a plausible tactical challenger in some matchups: a soldier’s ability to shape a battlefield can matter even when there is no evidence proving he would win a straight duel with Beru.
This is a role-based comparison, not a confirmed power ranking. The roster establishes the shared grade, but the available evidence does not provide primary-source verification here for a detailed list of Tusk’s abilities or a direct fight result.

Greed: a conditional challenger, not a consistent equal
Greed is listed as a General, below Beru’s Marshal grade. That makes him the weakest formal-grade comparison in this group, but it does not make him irrelevant: role, abilities, and the circumstances of a matchup can still make a lower-grade shadow useful or dangerous.

Why there is no well-supported fifth pick
The available evidence does not establish a reliable fifth distinct shadow soldier who can rival Beru. Adding another name just to make a five-item list would imply a level of confidence the evidence does not support. The four candidates above are the source-supported comparison set; a fifth would need its own criteria and confirmation in the original novel or comic.
Where to check the story
For a comparison grounded in the scenes themselves, use the licensed editions rather than treating fan-maintained grades as final authority. Yen Press lists the Solo Leveling light novel series, including its Volume 5 listing. Tappytoon identifies its Solo Leveling official comic as a licensed English translation. Novel and webtoon presentations can differ, so comparisons should specify which version and story point they refer to.
