No—the available evidence does not support saying Snapdragon X is still better than Intel Wildcat Lake across the board. Intel’s April 2026 comparison reports its Core 7 360 ahead of the Snapdragon X X1-26-100 in six selected performance tests. But Intel’s results are vendor-published, and the chips were tested in different computer platforms, so they do not establish a universal winner or a clean processor-only comparison.
What Intel’s comparison says
Intel’s performance index compares a Core 7 360 with a Snapdragon X X1-26-100. The Intel chip ran in an Intel reference platform at a stated 15 W PL1; the Snapdragon ran in an HP OmniBook 5. Both entries list 16 GB of memory, Windows 11, and Best Performance mode. Intel says the results were current as of April 10, 2026. The systems’ memory speeds, designs, BIOS settings, and other conditions differ, however, so the figures cannot isolate the processors alone. Intel’s performance index labels its comparisons as “up to” results.

These are Intel’s published results, not independent findings. “Up to” describes the top reported advantage in the stated comparison, not a guaranteed difference for every laptop or task. The index also includes separate comparisons with Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100; those results are for a different chip and should not be substituted for the X1-26-100 figures here.

The tests provide evidence that Intel’s Core 7 360 can lead this particular Snapdragon X system in several measured workloads. They do not show that every Wildcat Lake laptop will outperform every Snapdragon X laptop. The reference-platform-versus-retail-laptop setup, along with differences in system design and memory details, limits a direct silicon-to-silicon conclusion.

- STORAGE AND MEMORY - 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD offers fast speed and efficient storage; and 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM memory boosts performance with higher bandwidth
The comparison also does not establish which platform lasts longer on battery, runs cooler, costs less, or offers better application compatibility. Those questions require evidence from specific retail laptop models and comparable configurations. Intel’s page is useful for the named benchmarks, not as a complete buying verdict.
“Two years old” depends on which Snapdragon X you mean
The title’s age claim needs a precise reference point. Notebookcheck’s article matching the claim says the Snapdragon X X1-26-100 was introduced in early 2025. That makes the specific processor less than two years old in October 2026. The broader Snapdragon X platform may have a different history, but the cited article does not establish an earlier launch date for the platform as a whole. Notebookcheck’s coverage identifies the X1-26-100’s introduction; it should not be taken as a sourced launch date for every Snapdragon X product.

The perfect combination of performance, power consumption, and value helps your device handle multitasking smoothly and reliably with four processing cores to divide up the work.
Wildcat Lake naming does not identify one interchangeable chip
Intel uses “Products formerly Wildcat Lake” in its product listing, which names Core 7 processor 350, Core 5 processor 320, and Core 3 processor 305, each with Q2 2026 shown. Its benchmark page separately compares a Core 7 360. Do not assume the listed 350 and tested 360 are the same SKU or that their performance is interchangeable. Check the exact processor number in the laptop you are considering. Intel’s Core processor listing provides the product names.
How Snapdragon X fits into the comparison
Qualcomm’s January 2025 announcement describes Snapdragon X as an eight-core Qualcomm Oryon PC platform and specifies a 45 TOPS NPU. It names Asus, Acer, Dell Technologies, HP, and Lenovo among companies with Snapdragon X designs in production or development. Those platform details do not overturn or independently validate Intel’s benchmark comparison. Qualcomm also published performance and power-efficiency claims, but the cited announcement does not establish them as a direct comparison with Wildcat Lake, so they are not a basis for choosing between these processors. Qualcomm’s January 2025 announcement is the source for its platform description and claims.

How to choose between actual laptops
Start with the laptop models, not a headline about one processor family being better. A useful comparison should match configurations as closely as possible and answer the questions your own work raises:

- Confirm the exact chip. Record the full processor model in each laptop; “Snapdragon X” and “Core Series 3” cover product families, not one identical configuration.
- Check your applications. Confirm that the programs and devices you depend on are available and work as needed on each laptop.
- Match tests to your workload. The Intel results cover selected browser, office, graphics, photo, video, and single-core tests. They do not establish performance for every application or workload.
- Compare complete systems. Look for comparable retail-laptop tests for battery life, thermals, graphics, and sustained performance; the Intel index does not provide a matched independent battery-life comparison.
- Compare like-for-like configurations and price. Check memory, storage, display, power mode, and the actual price of each model rather than attributing every difference to its processor.
