NanoReview lists scores of 2,314,417 versus 1,010,069 in AnTuTu 11, and 2,072 versus 1,298 in Geekbench 6 single-core. These are database results from submitted devices, not a controlled comparison of otherwise identical phones, so they indicate the performance gap between the listed results—not a guaranteed score or experience on every handset.
Benchmark comparison: which chip is faster?
Both cited benchmark results favor Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. NanoReview’s comparison lists the following figures:

| Benchmark | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 | Snapdragon 870 | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu 11 total | 2,314,417 | 1,010,069 | Higher overall score for the 8s Gen 4 in this database comparison. |
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 2,072 | 1,298 | Higher single-core result for the 8s Gen 4 in this comparison. |
These values come from NanoReview’s chip comparison. Its page includes sample counts, and results can change as users submit additional scores. They are publisher-database aggregates rather than results from one lab testing matched phones under identical conditions; the page does not provide a clear publication year for the displayed values.

Specifications and platform features
Qualcomm’s product pages describe different platform generations and connectivity features. They do not provide a complete, matched specification table for both chips, so the comparison below sticks to the details those pages identify.
| Specification | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 | Snapdragon 870 |
|---|---|---|
| CPU and graphics | Qualcomm lists a Kryo CPU, Adreno GPU and CPU clock specification up to 3.2 GHz. | Qualcomm describes a Kryo 585 CPU and Adreno 650 GPU. |
| Mobile connectivity | Integrated 5G modem-RF; Qualcomm lists peak download speeds up to 4.2 Gbps. | Snapdragon X55 5G modem. |
| Wi-Fi platform | Wi-Fi 7 capability. | FastConnect 6800; Qualcomm’s page discusses Wi-Fi 6. |
| Process information | Qualcomm identifies 4 nm; POCO specifies TSMC 4 nm for its F7 phone. | A directly comparable process figure is not stated on the Qualcomm page reviewed. |
These specifications are from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 platform page and Snapdragon 870 5G platform page. Peak CPU clock, component names and connectivity support describe platform capabilities; they do not establish how fast a particular phone will run over time. Actual cellular and Wi-Fi support also depends on the phone, region and carrier.
How to interpret Qualcomm’s performance claims
Qualcomm’s stated CPU and GPU improvement percentages for Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 use Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 as the baseline. They should not be described as measured gains over Snapdragon 870. For this specific comparison, the cited AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6 figures provide the direct numerical evidence, with the database and device-comparability caveats above.

What the chip comparison cannot tell you about a phone
POCO identifies its F7 as a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 phone and lists CPU speeds up to 3.21 GHz on its official specifications page. It is a concrete example of a handset using the newer chip, not proof that all Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 phones will perform identically.
For a buying decision, compare the actual phones—not just the processor names—on the factors the chip-level figures do not settle:
Quick Recap
- Cooling and sustained performance: Long gaming sessions can behave differently from short benchmark runs, depending on a handset’s cooling and power limits.
- Battery life: Chip specifications alone do not establish how long a particular phone lasts between charges.
- Software support: Update policies and regional support are phone-specific.
- Price and availability: These depend on the model, market and time of purchase.
- The rest of the device: Memory, display, cameras and other hardware can matter as much as chip performance to everyday use.
