Its standard CPU layout has eight cores, but clock speeds, enabled features and benchmark results depend on the specific phone and chipset configuration. There is no single benchmark score that applies to every Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 device.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 specifications
Qualcomm announced the platform on October 24, 2023. The standard configuration combines a 64-bit Kryo CPU with an Adreno GPU, a Hexagon-based AI engine, a Spectra image signal processor and an integrated Snapdragon X75 5G Modem-RF System.

Qualcomm’s product brief also lists display, camera, wireless, audio, memory and gaming capabilities. These are platform-level capabilities, not a promise that each handset implements every feature. Qualcomm advises buyers to consult OEM specifications for device capability. CPU speed varies by platform version, and FP16 support varies by SKU.
A separate six-core configuration
Qualcomm also identifies a six-core CPU configuration, part number SM8650Q-AB. It should be treated as a distinct configuration; the standard eight-core 1+5+2 arrangement and its listed maximum frequencies should not automatically be applied to every product described as Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 benchmark results: how to read them
A benchmark result belongs to the handset and test that produced it, not to every phone with the same platform name. For a useful comparison, match the phone model, benchmark and version, and consider the device’s power and cooling profile. A score from one phone does not establish another phone’s sustained performance, thermals, battery life or everyday speed.
For a concrete example, Notebookcheck lists an AnTuTu v9 total of 1,650,926 for the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro in its device table. This is one handset’s result for that benchmark version, not a guaranteed or universal Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 score. Benchmark tables can change; consult the current Notebookcheck results when checking a figure.

Geekbench’s Android benchmark browser likewise lists results for named devices, including Samsung Galaxy models. Compare like with like: scores from different benchmark versions or devices are not directly interchangeable.

Phones that use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
At launch, Qualcomm named ASUS, Honor, iQOO, MEIZU, NIO, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, Redmi, RedMagic, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE among brands expected to adopt the platform. That launch list records expected adoption, not a guarantee that every brand released a device in every region.

For a specific later example, Qualcomm said in a July 2024 announcement that the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy globally. Keep that designation when describing those phones rather than silently treating it as the standard platform configuration. See Qualcomm’s Galaxy Z Series announcement.
What to check before comparing two Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones
- Exact chipset variant: Check the phone maker’s specifications for the chipset designation and CPU configuration; the platform has more than one configuration.
- Benchmark and version: Compare results from the same benchmark version, not just scores with similar names.
- Tested handset and conditions: Cooling design, power settings and test conditions can affect a phone’s result.
- Sustained load: A short benchmark score does not show how performance behaves during longer workloads.
- Enabled features: Confirm handset-specific camera, display, connectivity and other capabilities with the OEM rather than assuming every platform feature is enabled.
Launch context
Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on October 24, 2023, for premium Android devices. The company described it as its first mobile platform “meticulously designed with generative AI in mind.” That is Qualcomm’s characterization of the platform’s design, not an independent measurement of performance.
