There is not enough matched benchmark evidence here to name a faster chip. Qualcomm publishes detailed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 specifications, while Google’s Tensor G6 figures describe improvements over the Pixel 10 generation—not a direct comparison with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The clearest comparison is therefore between their documented capabilities and the phones that implement them.

Which chip is faster?
The available figures do not answer that question directly. Google reports that Tensor G6 enables 25% faster web browsing and 15% quicker app launches than its stated Pixel 10-generation comparison. Those are Google-reported generational claims, not results against Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. They do not establish which chip is faster in a shared CPU benchmark, game, or everyday workload.

What Google’s Tensor G6 performance claims mean
Google positions Tensor G6 around Pixel’s on-device AI, camera processing, and integrated device features. For the comparison Google describes, it reports 50% more TPU compute than the prior-generation baseline. It also says Tensor G6 processes on-device AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy.
These are manufacturer-reported improvements against Google’s stated Pixel 10 comparison, not independent measurements against Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The “up to” qualification matters: it does not mean every AI task will be faster by that amount or use that much less energy. AI systems also differ in hardware, software, and workload, so vendor-specific figures are not a common cross-chip score.

What Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s specifications tell you
CPU configuration
Qualcomm’s product brief describes a three-cluster CPU: one prime core up to 3.36 GHz, four performance cores up to 2.8 GHz, and three efficiency cores up to 2.0 GHz. Qualcomm’s product page also identifies a 3.19 GHz platform version and directs readers to phone manufacturers for device-specific CPU speeds. The figures should not be treated as a guarantee that every Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone runs at the same maximum frequency.

Qualcomm identifies the GPU as Adreno and lists Vulkan 1.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and hardware ray-tracing features. It also lists Hexagon processing with tensor acceleration and several supported numerical formats. These specifications describe platform support; they do not substitute for same-device gaming or AI workload tests.

Qualcomm lists the Snapdragon X70 modem and a peak 5G download capability of up to 10 Gbps. That is a platform maximum, not a promised real-world speed. Actual connectivity depends on the phone’s implementation, supported bands, network, and conditions. Qualcomm also lists Wi-Fi 7 support through FastConnect 7800, but the device maker’s specifications determine what a particular phone supports.
How to compare real phones fairly
These chips appear in different device families: Tensor G6 in Google’s Pixel 11 phones, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in devices made by various manufacturers. If you are choosing a phone, compare the specific models rather than treating a chip specification as the whole result.
- Look for tests that identify the exact phone, software build, benchmark version, and performance mode.
- Compare CPU single-core and multi-core scores separately from GPU, AI, and sustained-performance results.
- For gaming, prioritize sustained tests in the same game and settings; short peak scores do not show how performance behaves after a phone heats up.
- For connectivity, check the phone’s regional bands and Wi-Fi specifications rather than relying only on the chip platform’s maximum capabilities.
Without those controls, results from different phones can reflect cooling, power settings, software, and test conditions as much as the processor. The sources cited here do not establish a reproducible head-to-head benchmark set, so a numeric winner would be unsupported.
