In the cited Geekbench 6 comparisons, Apple’s A15 Bionic leads single-core performance, while multi-core results disagree between publishers. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 leads the cited 3DMark graphics tests, but GPU compute results use different APIs and AnTuTu totals are not directly comparable across Android and iOS. The results depend on the benchmark, device, and software—not just the chip.
How the two chips differ
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 arrived in November 2022, after Apple’s A15 Bionic, introduced in September 2021. They belong to different ecosystems: Snapdragon powers Android devices, while A15 is used in iPhones and iPads. That means results also reflect each device’s design and software stack.

Qualcomm describes Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as a mobile platform combining a Kryo CPU, Adreno GPU, Hexagon AI processor, Snapdragon X70 modem-RF system, and FastConnect 7800 connectivity. Its specification page lists Wi-Fi 7 support and up to 10 Gbps peak modem download speed; these are platform specifications, not guaranteed real-world speeds or features in every handset. For everyday responsiveness, single-core is one useful indicator; multi-core can matter more in workloads that use several cores at once. Neither number guarantees how a particular phone will feel or perform under sustained load. The variation between the two multi-core comparisons is a reason to check the device model and test context rather than treating a chip-level ranking as settled. 91mobiles’ comparison; NanoReview’s comparison.
AnTuTu: do not compare Android and iPhone totals directly
The reported totals are higher for Snapdragon in both cited pages, but they should not be read as a definitive cross-platform performance margin. NanoReview explicitly warns that Android and iOS AnTuTu results are not directly comparable. The two publishers also report different figures and testing contexts.

GPU compute does not show the same straightforward result: NanoReview lists an A15 lead in its Geekbench GPU-compute workload, but the comparison uses Apple’s Metal API for A15 and OpenCL for Snapdragon. Because the APIs differ, it is not a clean like-for-like test. Qualcomm separately claims that its next-generation Adreno GPU delivers “25% faster graphics rendering” than the previous generation; that is a vendor comparison against the prior generation, not an independent A15-versus-Snapdragon test. Qualcomm’s claim and footnote; NanoReview’s GPU comparisons.
Gaming performance also depends on the specific phone. NanoReview’s listed gaming results include a ZTE Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro, and the page cautions that frame rates can vary with game version, operating system, and other factors. That phone’s results should not be generalized to every Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 model or treated as a controlled comparison against an A15 iPhone.

Why device and test context matter
Geekbench’s mobile chart is based on user-submitted results and updates regularly. It lists scores for particular phones and tablets, not guaranteed results for every device using a chip. At the time the chart was accessed in 2026, it included examples from both families, including Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 variants and A15-powered iPhone and iPad models. - Benchmark and version: Geekbench CPU, Geekbench GPU compute, 3DMark, and AnTuTu measure different workloads.
- Test API: A result using Metal is not directly equivalent to one using OpenCL.
- Exact device: Cooling, power limits, and device configuration affect performance. An A15 GPU configuration can also vary across Apple devices.
- Sample and method: Aggregated or user-submitted scores reflect their included devices and submissions, not every unit.
- Workload duration: A short benchmark score does not establish sustained performance during a long gaming session.
Which chip should you choose?
Choose based on the actual phone or tablet and the work you care about, not a single aggregate score. The cited evidence supports these narrower conclusions:
- Single-core CPU: A15 leads in both cited Geekbench 6 comparisons.
- Multi-core CPU: The cited Geekbench 6 comparisons disagree, so there is no consistent winner established by these figures.
- Graphics tests: Snapdragon leads the cited 3DMark Solar Bay and Wild Life Extreme results; the GPU compute comparison favors A15 but uses different APIs.
- AnTuTu: The reported totals should not be used as a direct Android-versus-iOS ranking.
For a buying decision, compare the exact handset variant available in your market, then assess sustained performance, battery, camera, software support, condition, and price. The cited benchmark comparisons do not settle those device-level factors or current local availability. Snapdragon-powered examples include the Samsung Galaxy S23 and OnePlus 11; A15 examples include the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 families. Check the exact model and regional configuration before assuming which chip a listing contains. 91mobiles’ device examples; Geekbench’s chart of specific tested models.
