The fairest takeaway is workload-specific: compare CPU, graphics and overall scores separately, and treat each result as evidence about the tested device rather than a guaranteed result for every phone with that chip.
Key specifications: what the available comparison establishes
The comparison source identifies the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with Qualcomm Adreno 730 graphics and the Tensor G4 with Arm Mali-G715 MP7 graphics. That establishes the GPU names reported for the chips, but the available evidence does not support a complete, independently verified specification table covering items such as clock speeds, manufacturing process, modem or power consumption.

Google lists Tensor G4 as the processor in its Pixel 9 family specifications, making the Pixel 9 a concrete example of a phone using the chip. A chip’s real-world behavior is still affected by the phone that houses it, so a result from one handset should not be treated as a result for every device using that processor.

Benchmark results: compare like with like
The cited pages report Tensor G4 ahead in their listed results, but they do not provide one controlled, same-version comparison between identified phones. The figures below belong to the named publisher and test listing; they should not be merged into a single ranking.
| Source and measure | Tensor G4 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| NanoReview, AnTuTu 11 | 1,519K | 1,294K | NanoReview describes Tensor G4 as up to 17% ahead in this comparison. The page’s captured material does not establish a publication year or a matched handset test. |
| 91mobiles, AnTuTu | 1,400,792 | 993,826 | Scores listed by 91mobiles; the cited material does not establish that this uses the same AnTuTu version or methodology as NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 figures. |
| 91mobiles, Geekbench single-core | 1,980 | 1,225 | Scores listed by 91mobiles. They are not a substitute for multi-core or graphics results, and the cited page does not establish a controlled test of matched phones. |
The benchmark pages were accessed in 2026; no verifiable publication year for the live scores was captured. The figures are not presented as current results for every phone or as directly comparable measurements across publishers.
What the scores say about different workloads
Overall system performance
AnTuTu combines aspects of system performance into an overall score. NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 comparison and 91mobiles’ listed AnTuTu scores both favor Tensor G4, but the version and test conditions matter. In particular, the AnTuTu 11 figures should not be directly ranked against the 91mobiles numbers without confirming that the test version and methodology match.

CPU performance
The 91mobiles listing gives Geekbench single-core scores of 1,980 for Tensor G4 and 1,225 for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. That is evidence for the single-core results shown on that page only. It does not establish multi-core performance, sustained speed under long workloads or the experience on other handsets.
Graphics performance
The cited sources identify Adreno 730 for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Mali-G715 MP7 for Tensor G4, but the supplied comparisons do not establish a controlled graphics benchmark between named devices. GPU names alone are not enough to declare which chip will deliver better frame rates in a particular game; phone cooling, software, graphics settings and the game itself also affect results.

A benchmark score is produced by a chip inside a particular phone, running particular software and a particular test. Device design and test conditions can affect the result, so chipset names alone do not make two scores directly comparable. Geekbench’s Android chart, for example, lists individual device entries such as the Google Pixel 9 Pro with Tensor G4 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phones including the Motorola Edge X30 and Sony Xperia 1 IV. Those are submitted-device results, not isolated measurements of the processors.

For a useful comparison, check the handset model and benchmark version first, then compare the same kind of workload. A single-core CPU score should be compared with another single-core score; an overall AnTuTu result should be compared with a result from the same AnTuTu version and, ideally, a clearly identified test setup.

Which chip should you consider faster?
In the listed results, Tensor G4 is ahead in NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 comparison and in 91mobiles’ AnTuTu and Geekbench single-core entries. That supports saying Tensor G4 leads in those cited comparisons; it does not prove that it is faster in every workload, game or phone.
If you are comparing two specific phones, look for benchmarks run on those exact models and check that the benchmark version and conditions match. The available figures do not settle sustained performance, graphics leadership, thermal behavior, battery efficiency or a universal winner.
