The Nike Pegasus 41 is a neutral road-running shoe built for everyday training, with ReactX foam, forefoot and heel Air Zoom units, and a waffle-inspired rubber outsole. It is worth considering if you want a familiar, relatively high-drop daily trainer—especially at a meaningful discount. The main caveats are mixed fit reports and a ride that one hands-on reviewer found soft and bouncy but thin under the forefoot.
What the Pegasus 41 is designed to do
Nike positions the Pegasus 41 as a responsive road-running shoe for daily use. Its midsole pairs ReactX foam with separate Air Zoom units in the heel and forefoot; an engineered mesh upper and waffle-inspired rubber outsole complete the design. Nike says ReactX is 13% more responsive than its previous React technology. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independent comparative result. Nike’s product page

How the ride feels—and who may like it
In Believe in the Run’s hands-on review, the midsole felt soft yet bouncy, while the forefoot felt thin. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of how the shoe will feel to every runner. The review lists it for daily training. Believe in the Run’s review
RTINGS measured an 11.4 mm heel-to-toe drop and notes that a relatively high drop may suit heel strikers who prefer guidance through footstrike. This is a preference cue, not medical advice or a promise about gait, comfort, or injury risk. RTINGS’ review

Specs and measurements: why figures differ
| Specification | Reported figure | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Foam and cushioning | ReactX foam with heel and forefoot Air Zoom units | Nike’s product description. Nike also claims ReactX is 13% more responsive than previous React technology; that percentage is not an independent test result. Nike |
| Advertised drop | 10 mm | Nike’s stated heel-to-toe drop. Nike |
| Measured drop | 11.4 mm | RTINGS’ lab measurement; RunRepeat also reports 11.4 mm. Measurements can vary by shoe, size, and method. RTINGS RunRepeat |
| Stack height | 36.0 mm heel; 24.6 mm forefoot | RTINGS’ measurements. Believe in the Run reports 37 mm at the heel and 27 mm at the forefoot, illustrating why measurements from separate reviews should not be merged as if they came from one method. RTINGS Believe in the Run |
| Weight | Approximately 297 g for men’s size 9 | Nike’s approximate figure. Believe in the Run lists 296 g for US men’s 10.5 and 243 g for women’s 7.5; different sizes make direct comparisons unreliable. Nike Believe in the Run |
Does the Pegasus 41 run true to size?
The available fit signals are mixed rather than conclusive. Nike says the MR-10 last is the same as the Pegasus 40, and RunRepeat labels the fit true to size. One Nike Singapore customer review dated 19 August 2026 says a US size 13 felt smaller than the reviewer’s previous Nike running shoes; that is an individual report, not a general sizing rule. - If you are between sizes, have a wider foot, or are ordering remotely, check the retailer’s current size chart and return policy.
- When practical, try the shoe on and assess the fit in the socks you typically run in.
Pegasus 41 vs. Pegasus 42
Tom’s Guide’s comparison, published May 25, 2026, says its reviewer found the Pegasus 42’s full-length Air Zoom unit smoother and livelier during a short comparison run. In the compared US men’s size 10, the Pegasus 42 weighed 10.8 oz versus 10.3 oz for the Pegasus 41. Those figures apply to the sizes and comparison reported in that article, not every size. Rank #2
- ReactX foam midsole surrounds forefoot and heel Air Zoom units for an energized ride. It's 13% more responsive than previous React technology.
- Signature waffle-inspired rubber outsole provides traction and flexibility.
- Plush collar, tongue and sockliner provide a secure and comfortable fit.
The same comparison notes less rubber coverage on the Pegasus 42 outsole and suggests that this might affect durability. That is the author’s expectation, not a long-term durability test. If you want the updated ride, consider trying the Pegasus 42; if the older model is substantially cheaper where you shop, the Pegasus 41 may be the better value for your needs.

It is a reasonable candidate if you want a neutral road shoe for daily training, like the prospect of a soft, bouncy ride, and are comfortable with a relatively high drop. The subjective forefoot feel and mixed fit evidence make trying it on especially useful. No long-term durability result is established here.
