In Gizmochina’s September 2025 tests, the Snapdragon-equipped Realme GT 7 Pro scored higher than the Dimensity-equipped Realme GT 7 in AnTuTu and Geekbench 6. For a buying decision, treat those scores as evidence about that phone pair, then compare the specific handsets you can actually buy.
Which chip has better benchmark results?
The dated side-by-side comparison favors the Snapdragon 8 Elite in every listed test. Gizmochina tested a Realme GT 7 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Elite against a Realme GT 7 with Dimensity 9400e on September 5, 2025. The phones differ, so the scores are not a controlled experiment isolating the processors.

NanoReview’s live aggregate comparison also favors Snapdragon across several listed categories, but it combines submissions from devices and conditions that are not uniform, and its sample counts are uneven. It is directional corroboration, not a controlled head-to-head test; its results can change as the database updates. View NanoReview’s live comparison.

How do the specifications differ?
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is Qualcomm’s original 8 Elite mobile platform, announced in October 2024; it is not the later Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Dimensity 9400e was announced in May 2025. Some databases label the Snapdragon chip “Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4)” or retain the older “Snapdragon 8 Gen 4” wording. Check the exact processor name and phone model when comparing listings.
| Specification | Snapdragon 8 Elite | Dimensity 9400e |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Qualcomm custom Oryon CPU | 1 Cortex-X4 up to 3.4GHz; 3 Cortex-X4 up to 2.85GHz; 4 Cortex-A720 up to 2.0GHz |
| GPU | Adreno graphics | 12-core Arm Immortalis-G720 MC12 |
| Manufacturing | 3nm-class, per Qualcomm comparison material | Third-generation TSMC 4nm, per MediaTek |
| Memory and storage support | LPDDR5X and UFS 4-class storage | LPDDR5X and UFS 4-class storage |
| AI hardware and claims | Hexagon AI hardware; Qualcomm lists on-device multimodal support | NPU 790; MediaTek lists on-device support for named language and vision models |
| Connectivity claims | Wi-Fi 7 and 5G capabilities | Wi-Fi 7 and 5G capabilities |
Sources: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite product page and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e product page. These are platform-level descriptions. A phone maker’s configuration determines such details as memory capacity and implementation, storage, supported network bands, modem and antenna design, and which regional features are enabled.
Both platforms support hardware ray tracing and include gaming-related features, but GPU names and feature lists alone do not establish frame rates or frame-time consistency in a particular game. Similarly, the listed AI capabilities do not come from a common independent benchmark, so they do not establish a universal AI winner. Manufacturing-node labels are not proof of how long a specific phone lasts on a charge or how hot it runs.

What do the scores mean for gaming and everyday use?
Peak performance
The cited phone comparison points to higher peak CPU and GPU benchmark results for the Snapdragon 8 Elite phone. That can be useful when comparing similar devices, but it does not predict every app or game equally.
Sustained gaming
For long sessions, look for reviews of the exact phone that report frame rates over time, frame-time consistency, throttling, cooling, and results in the games you play. A short benchmark run cannot establish how well a handset maintains performance after it heats up.
Heat and battery life
The cited benchmark comparison does not establish a universal thermal or battery-life winner between these chips. Those outcomes depend on the complete phone, including its cooling, battery, display, firmware, and workload. Compare controlled battery or thermal tests of the actual models rather than inferring endurance from a benchmark score or process label.

Which phone is the better value?
Choose between complete handset configurations, not processor names alone. A phone with the Dimensity 9400e remains a high-end option; lower scores in this particular comparison do not mean it is unsuitable for demanding use. A lower-priced model may be the better buy if its screen, battery, cameras, cooling, warranty, and software support suit you better.

Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s Oryon CPU delivers “a 45% performance boost, 44% greater power efficiency, and the mobile industry’s largest shared data cache.” Qualcomm presents those figures as a comparison with the previous generation; they are vendor claims, not results from a Snapdragon 8 Elite versus Dimensity 9400e test.
