Published comparisons favor Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 overall, particularly in graphics benchmarks—but the exact “Dimensity 7400 Turbo” chip identity is not confirmed by the official MediaTek material available here. MediaTek’s official pages specify the Dimensity 7400, while a third-party comparison uses “Dimensity 7400 Turbo” in a comparison with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a different Snapdragon model. Check the processor named for the specific phone and market before treating the Turbo label as a confirmed variant of Dimensity 7400.

Which is better: Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 or Dimensity 7400 Turbo?

On the evidence available for the base Dimensity 7400, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 has the stronger overall published benchmark results. The advantage is clearest in graphics-focused results. That does not establish an exact, controlled performance gap against a verified Dimensity 7400 Turbo: the published results come from different comparison methods and, in one case, different phones.

For a performance-first choice, lean toward a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 phone, especially for graphics-heavy use. For an actual purchase, compare the complete phones—cooling, battery, display, memory and storage configuration, software support, regional network bands and price can matter as much as the chipset.

Is Dimensity 7400 Turbo an official chip variant?

MediaTek’s official product and announcement pages describe the Dimensity 7400; they do not establish a “Dimensity 7400 Turbo” variant. The third-party comparison that uses the Turbo name pairs it with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, not Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. These sources therefore do not verify that “Dimensity 7400 Turbo” is the official name of the processor in a particular phone.

Confirm the exact processor from the phone maker’s specifications for your region. Do not assume that benchmark results for the base Dimensity 7400 apply to a phone described as having a Turbo variant until that chip’s identity and configuration are clear.

How do the benchmark results compare?

The two published sources report different score sets. Each should be read in its own test context, rather than combined into a single promised score for either chipset.

What do the vendor performance claims mean?

MediaTek’s 2025 announcement says the Dimensity 7400 and 7400X use 14% to 36% less power when gaming than “competitive chipsets.” That is a vendor comparison claim; it is not a result from the Snapdragon-versus-Dimensity phone tests above, and it does not establish a direct power comparison with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. MediaTek also claims a 15% NPU performance upgrade over the Dimensity 7300, which is a different comparison and not a Snapdragon result.

These claims should not be used to predict battery life in a particular phone. Battery capacity, display, cooling, software and the workload all influence endurance. Source: MediaTek’s February 25, 2025 Dimensity 7400 series announcement.

Which phones use these processors?

In the cited Beebom tests, the Realme P4 Pro is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 phone and the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion is the Dimensity 7400 phone. Those examples identify the handsets used for the reported benchmarks; they do not confirm a phone using an officially specified Dimensity 7400 Turbo.

Phone availability and processor configurations can vary by market. Check the manufacturer’s specification page for the exact regional model before comparing a listing or benchmark with these results.

How should you choose between phones?

  • For graphics-heavy gaming: the published Beebom phone tests show a substantial GPU-score advantage for its Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 test phone, and 91mobiles’ comparison also favors Snapdragon overall. Treat those as test-specific evidence, not a guarantee for another model.
  • For sustained gaming: compare reviews of the exact phones, including thermal behavior and frame-rate stability. A chipset’s peak specifications do not tell you how a specific phone handles heat over time.
  • For battery life: compare real-world testing of the models you can buy. MediaTek’s gaming power claim is a vendor comparison, not a head-to-head battery test of these phones.
  • For memory, storage, camera or connectivity: verify the phone’s own configuration and supported features. Platform support does not mean every manufacturer implements every option.
  • For value or software support: compare current local prices, update policies and regional network compatibility. The chipset comparison alone does not establish which phone is the better deal.
