In the one named device-to-device test available, the Dimensity 8300 Ultra phone was much faster at peak, and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 phone held its graphics performance far more steadily. Beebom’s 2024 comparison of the Poco X6 Pro (Dimensity 8300 Ultra) and OnePlus Nord CE 4 (Snapdragon 7 Gen 3) is the basis for the numbers below. It compared two retail phones, not two bare chips, so cooling, memory, storage and firmware all affect the results.
Specifications side by side
| Dimension | Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 | Dimensity 8300 / 8300 Ultra | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU | Qualcomm Kryo, up to 2.63 GHz (Qualcomm) | 4× Cortex-A715 + 4× Cortex-A510 (MediaTek); Beebom lists the Ultra test phone at 3.35/3.2/2.2 GHz | Reported Dimensity clocks are much higher, but the two vendors’ pages don’t give clocks at the same level of detail. |
| GPU | Adreno (Beebom identifies Adreno 720) | Mali-G615 (Beebom identifies MC6 for the Ultra) | The Dimensity phone scored higher at peak; the Snapdragon phone was steadier under stress. |
| Memory / storage | Beebom’s table lists LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 | LPDDR5X up to 8533 Mbps and UFS 4.0 + MCQ (MediaTek) | Faster memory and storage can add to full-device benchmark gaps. |
| Modem | X63, peak downlink up to 5 Gbps (Qualcomm) | Peak downlink up to 5.17 Gbps (MediaTek) | These are theoretical maxima. Bands, networks, antennas and carrier aggregation decide real speeds. |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 6/6E, Bluetooth 5.4 | Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 | The phone maker’s implementation and regional version still matter. |
| Imaging / AI | Triple ISP and AI features, including a claimed 200 MP photo capture capability | NPU 780, Imagiq 980 14-bit HDR-ISP, 4K60 HDR | These are platform capabilities and vendor claims. They don’t guarantee equal camera output. |

Qualcomm claims more than 50% faster graphics rendering and 60% better AI performance per watt than the previous generation. Those are Qualcomm’s own generational comparisons, not results against Dimensity. MediaTek’s page is titled Dimensity 8300, while Beebom tested an “Ultra” handset. Don’t assume every Ultra implementation is identical.

Peak performance
The Dimensity phone led on every peak measure. Its multi-core Geekbench 6 score was about 47% higher, and its AnTuTu total was about 57% higher. Its best 3DMark loop was nearly double the Snapdragon phone’s.
Sustained performance
The Snapdragon phone’s 3DMark loops barely moved (5,445 best, 5,425 lowest). The Dimensity phone dropped from 10,041 to 7,156. Even at its lowest loop it still scored well above the Snapdragon phone. Stability is a percentage of its own best, so higher stability doesn’t mean higher frame rates. Beebom also reported a CPU throttling test of 89% versus 73% after three minutes and inferred that the Snapdragon may sustain long CPU workloads better. That is one phone and one setup, not a guarantee for every model.

AI and network tests
The AI Benchmark gap (539 versus 1,930) is large, but Beebom doesn’t establish that it predicts every on-device AI task. In an Airtel 5G test at one location, downloads were 444 Mbps (Snapdragon) against 488 Mbps (Dimensity), and uploads were 30 Mbps against 52.6 Mbps. That single test is not a modem ranking.

How far the evidence goes
- The two phones differ in more than the chip, so the results can’t isolate chipset effects from cooling, memory, firmware and tuning.
- No matched-chassis test, battery-life study or matched camera evaluation was available, so there is no universal winner on battery or image quality.
- The tests date to 2024. Software updates since then may have changed the numbers.
- Qualcomm and MediaTek pages describe vendor capabilities and are not independent tests.
Which should you choose?
- Peak speed, heavy gaming bursts, AI scores: the Dimensity 8300 Ultra phone led clearly in the tested pair.
- Steady graphics under repeated load: the tested Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 phone was far steadier, though at a lower level.
- Final decision: compare the actual phone models on price, update support, software, battery, display, cameras and the 5G bands your carrier uses. Qualcomm announced the chip in November 2023 with HONOR and vivo among the first adopters, so confirm the regional version before buying.
