The Dimensity 7400X has a newer-looking published CPU configuration, and some independent benchmark comparisons show it ahead in aggregate scores. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, however, specifies a faster peak modem and support for both mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G. Neither result guarantees that a phone using one chipset will be faster, last longer, or take better photos: the complete handset determines much of the experience.
How the processors differ
The Dimensity 7400X combines four Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked up to 2.6 GHz with four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. Qualcomm describes the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 CPU as 64-bit Kryo architecture; its standard version is listed at 2.4 GHz, while an accelerated edition can reach 2.5 GHz. Qualcomm advises checking the phone maker’s specifications for the CPU speed in a particular device.

The headline clock rates do not establish which phone feels faster. They do not account for workload, core scheduling, cooling, memory, firmware, or whether the phone can sustain performance under heat. The 7400X’s A78/A55 core layout is more explicit in MediaTek’s published specification, but a clock-rate comparison alone is not a reliable performance verdict.

What the benchmark results show—and what they do not
Published comparisons sometimes favor the Dimensity 7400X, but the available figures come from different devices, benchmark releases, and sample pools. They should not be combined as though they were measurements from one controlled head-to-head test.
| Source and test | Reported result | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| GadgetVersus, AnTuTu | Dimensity 7400X: 675,389; Snapdragon 7 Gen 1: 595,845 | Scores reported by that comparison page; the page does not establish a matched device and test setup. |
| GadgetVersus, Geekbench 6 single-core | Dimensity 7400X: 1,089; Snapdragon 7 Gen 1: 941 | Scores reported by that comparison page, not a universal chipset result. |
| GadgetVersus, Geekbench 6 multi-core | Dimensity 7400X: 3,081; Snapdragon 7 Gen 1: 2,674 | Scores reported by that comparison page, with device and test conditions not established as matched. |
| NanoReview, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 AnTuTu 11 average | 859,516 | A source-reported average for AnTuTu 11; it is not directly comparable with the GadgetVersus AnTuTu figure. |
| NanoReview, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Geekbench 6 | 1,044 single-core; 2,785 multi-core | Source-reported scores; the figures differ from GadgetVersus’s Snapdragon results. |
| Notebookcheck, Dimensity 7400X Geekbench 6.7 | 1,076 single-core average from 23 samples | A sample average for the stated test version, not a matched comparison against the Snapdragon figures above. |
The varying results are a reason to treat benchmarks as clues about particular test runs, not as promises about everyday speed. Benchmark version, handset, cooling, firmware, and sample size can all affect a score. MediaTek and Qualcomm also publish performance claims against their own chosen baselines; those vendor comparisons are not independent head-to-head tests.

Where each platform has a documented advantage
CPU configuration and graphics
MediaTek gives a specific core layout for the 7400X: four A78 cores and four A55 cores, with the A78 cluster reaching up to 2.6 GHz. Qualcomm publishes Kryo architecture and two clock variants for the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The available specifications do not by themselves establish a consistent real-world winner, and the GPU names or platform APIs alone do not predict sustained gaming performance in a particular phone.

5G connectivity
On published peak modem specifications, Qualcomm lists up to 4.4 Gbps downlink for the Snapdragon X62 and support for mmWave as well as sub-6 GHz. MediaTek lists up to 3.27 Gbps downlink for the 7400X and details sub-6 GHz 3CC carrier aggregation. These are platform capabilities, not expected carrier speeds: local network bands, carrier deployment, antennas, phone design, and plan all matter. Confirm the exact regional phone variant supports the bands and features you need.

Wireless, cameras, and displays
MediaTek lists Bluetooth 5.4, compared with Bluetooth 5.2 in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon product brief; both platforms list Wi-Fi 6E. Their camera and display figures describe what the platform can support, not what a handset maker chose to include. Sensor quality, lenses, image processing, screen resolution, refresh-rate options, and recording modes are handset-specific.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which chipset should you choose?
Use the chipset as one factor when comparing phones, not as a substitute for comparing the phones themselves. The 7400X is a reasonable preference if its published CPU configuration and the benchmark results available for your candidate handset suit your priorities. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 has the higher stated peak modem throughput and documented mmWave support, which may matter in a market and network where those features are available. Neither platform specification guarantees a better overall phone.

- Check the exact model and region: phones can differ by market, and chipset-level modem support does not confirm the bands in a particular SKU.
- Look for sustained performance: cooling and power limits influence gaming and other long workloads more than a peak clock or one benchmark score.
- Compare battery and display: capacity, efficiency under your usage, screen size, resolution, and refresh behavior are phone-level choices.
- Evaluate cameras by the phone: platform megapixel and video limits do not establish image quality or the modes actually available.
- Check software support and price: update policies and current handset pricing come from the manufacturer and seller, not the chipset specification.
