Those results compare submissions from different phones, not two chipsets tested in identical handsets. For a buying decision, the exact phone’s cooling, memory, screen, camera, software and price matter as much as its processor.
How do Snapdragon 685 and Helio G100 compare?
Both are octa-core, 4G mobile platforms, but they use different CPU cores and graphics processors. Snapdragon 685 is listed with four Cortex-A73 cores up to 2.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores up to 1.9 GHz. Helio G100 pairs two Cortex-A76 cores up to 2.2 GHz with six Cortex-A55 cores up to 2.0 GHz. A higher peak clock does not by itself mean a faster chip: core design and workload matter, and benchmark results offer a more useful—but still imperfect—comparison.

For the displayed aggregate scores, Helio G100 comes out ahead. Treat that as a directional result, not a guarantee that every G100 phone will outperform every Snapdragon 685 phone. NanoReview’s figures combine results from different devices, whose cooling, firmware, memory and configurations can affect performance.
What do the benchmark scores show?
NanoReview’s displayed aggregates, accessed October 7, 2026, favor Helio G100 in the listed tests. The sample counts differ by benchmark, and the figures are not from matched phones tested under controlled, identical conditions.

Platform support describes a capability ceiling, not a promise about a particular phone. A manufacturer chooses the actual display, camera sensors, memory, storage, video options and wireless implementation. Qualcomm’s official specifications are on its Snapdragon 685 4G Mobile Platform page; MediaTek’s are on its Helio G100 page.

Which chipset is better for gaming?
The aggregate benchmark results favor Helio G100, but they do not establish which chipset delivers a higher frame rate or sustains performance longer in a particular game. Snapdragon 685 uses Adreno 610 graphics; Helio G100 uses Mali-G57 MC2. A GPU name alone cannot settle the comparison because game optimization, graphics settings, drivers, handset temperature and cooling affect results.

If gaming is a priority, look for tests of the exact phone models running the same game at the same settings. Compare sustained frame rate and heat after extended play, rather than relying only on a short benchmark or the chipset label.

Are either of these chipsets 5G?
No. Both are 4G platforms. Qualcomm lists an X11 LTE modem and LTE Category 13 for Snapdragon 685; MediaTek lists Cat-13 LTE for Helio G100. A handset’s actual network performance also depends on its supported bands, regional model and carrier coverage.

- Confirm the exact model number and regional variant, then check network bands and carrier compatibility.
- Compare installed RAM and storage rather than assuming platform support tells you what the phone includes.
- Check screen quality, battery capacity, camera hardware and image processing, and the phone’s software-update policy.
- For demanding apps or games, seek results from the exact handset that cover sustained performance and heat.
- Compare the phones’ prices and overall features in your market; the chipset comparison does not determine value.
Neither a 6 nm process label nor a benchmark score establishes battery endurance across different phones. Likewise, the camera-resolution ceilings do not predict image quality: sensors, lenses and image processing shape the results.
What do the official specifications mean in practice?
MediaTek specifies Helio G100 as an octa-core platform with two Arm Cortex-A76 cores, Mali-G57-class graphics, LPDDR4X and UFS support. Its listed ceilings include a 200 MP camera, a display up to 120 Hz and 2K/30 fps video encoding. These are manufacturer capabilities, not independent measurements or a promise that a phone will implement every feature.
Qualcomm lists Snapdragon 685 CPU speeds up to 2.8 GHz, Adreno 610 graphics, an X11 LTE modem and camera support up to 108 MP. Qualcomm describes its performance comparisons as being against the previous generation; that wording is not a direct comparison with Helio G100.
Qualcomm also states: “Quick Charge is designed to increase the battery charge of a device by up to 80% in 35 minutes. Actual results may vary depending on device design.” Charging performance therefore depends on the phone design and implementation, not solely on the chipset.
